The Island Golf Club

The Island hosted the Irish qualifying course for the Open Championship in 2005. In 2004, the Ladies Amateur Close Championship and the European Youth Amateur Championship were hosted at the Island. The Island Golf Club previously hosted the Irish Amateur Close Championship in 1998 and the Smurfit Irish PGA Championship in 1999.

This spectacular course dates back to 1918 and has been extended and modified over the years by both Eddie Hackett and more recently, Donald Steel. This spectacular location on the Bartragh Peninsula, boasts some of the finest golfing terrain in the world and is famed for the magnificent sunsets that are seen from the impressive dunes. Enniscrone was the host to the Irish Close Championship in 1993.
