Very Good as always!

Peak of summer so the wispy rough is seriously in play if you are off-line with your driving. Some excellent holes on here with some severe dog legs to take account of - beware the 6th and 8th for example. Wonderful sweeping Par 5 13th so enjoy that one!
Greens were very good, firm and pacey - and with undulations and contours to test your putting skills to the max let alone your approach play. Will look forward to playing again late summer/early autumn when conditions will be different and hopefully the excellent club house is open again! Roll on those times...

Very testing in the wind, rough is penal and rightly so to help protect the course when the wind doesn't blow.
Greens excellent - receptive, lightning fast and challenging.
A different challenge every time I play there.
Clubhouse modern but very confortable, staff couldn't be friendlier and super food.
Well worth a visit.

Very comfortable

This course deserves a thumbs up, it's not over developed with a substantial club house with plenty of space to an old style golf range which in my opinion is the best....The course itself is fairly narrow and you do have to think before you shoot.....The rough is unforgiving lush and already a good 10 inches deep and soon to be way above knee height as for the greens they are fairly fast but the secret undulations can make or break your day. A few bunkers all set at a reasonable distance if a bit stoney but I'm sure the green keepers will be working there magic soon.Over all a great course and deserves a visit, good luck in the rough

Would not rush back.

After the first few holes one formed the impression that this course was in poor condition. Scruffy tee boxes and greens that were the worst I gave played on this year.
As mentioned in a previous review the rough was penal and once in you lost your ball.
Kitchen closed at 2.00pm. Seemed all round that there’s as a lack of staff and dare I say anyone managing the venue.

Nice course

We came back to Surrey Downs for another visit and weren't disappointed. The greens could always be better but under the circumstances they played well. Very scorable (41 point bandit territory) with some tricky holes with blind tee shots. Overall always worth a visit. Hospitality and staff were great. We'll be back!

Great course worth a visit

First time playing here & was very impressed. The greens were lush green, cut short so very fast. Undulating greens so it requires you to think about your putts a lot. Bunkers were a bit disappointing. Compacted sand & lots of stones/gravel. No signs to show the way to the 10th hole either. Staff were very nice & friendly.

Surrey Downs in the Rain!

Great to see the course in such a good condition of after 15 years since I last played here.
Staff very welcoming even in such strange times.

Greens were good but the rain did slow them down a little but still in great condition.
Signage to the 10th was a little lacking but that was probably me not seeing it.

Still a good course with quite a few dog-legs to make you plan your way around the course.
Definitely coming back in better weather.

Decent little knock

A steady little course which can be quite demanding in places. Greens in great condition. pace of play was great with no hold ups at all. Bit hilly in places but that adds to the club selection when teeing off. Will definately play again.

Course needs some work

We’d had a fair bit of rain in the days proceeding our visit, but the course was disappointing regardless. Greens had been heavily sanded and some hollow tined. Tee boxes weren’t in the greatest of shape either, and the bunkers were a joke. Barely a grain of sand in them, just a sprinkling with compacted mud underneath. Pace of play from the members 4 ball in front of us was horrendously slow. Some tough long rough ensured the course wasn’t too easy, which was good, but I wouldn’t be in a hurry to play it again

Extremely heavy rough

Not an easy course when the rough is so thick. You will be punished for average shots that are slightly off the fairway because your ball will be difficult to locate and you may take 2 (sometimes 3) shots to come out of the rough. Too many blind approaches with such a difficult rough makes this course not the most enjoyable.

Very poor

Played 4.30 friday 17th august 1st time ive played surrey downs so was looking forward as was told 1 of the best courses in surrey...was not told all greens being hollatised prior to booking. So waste of time putting on greens, the fairways had not been cut and was in bad condition .. no holes where marked so had to ask other golfers where next tee was. Aslo wedding reception being held and drunk idiots driving buggies around 17th and 18th faiways screaming shouting while golfers on course.
Very disappointed will not play there again.
