The Club was opened on the 17th July 1958 by Félix Cifuentes as a 9 hole club. In 1981 the course was extended to 18 holes The Club is situated 5 kms from Gijón, in the parish of Castiello of Bernueces with magnificent landscaped views of trees and praderías. The name of Castiello stems from the latin American term Castrum and of its diminutive one Castelum that is in the origin of this topónimo and remits us to the epoch of Roman colonization of Gijón.
