You Gotta Play This.
This is one amazing golf course. Not only is it a fantastic course to play it is also very scenic as you play amongst the Deer who are grazing just feet away. Some very challenging golf holes one of which I have to say is the Par 3 18th. too may positive points to put up here, but if you love golf then this has to be one to put on the Bucket List.Reviewer Rating

Very nice course
Second visit to The Astbury (first this year) and still very impressed. Stunning setting and welcoming course. Slight delay in getting away due to a Seniors Day that had been split starts on front and back 9, speed of play was ok and this improved as the day went on. The whole course was still well manicured although I don't recall any striping of the fairways like last year (I may have just not been paying attention). Long walk but not too hilly, other than the feskew and bunkers there's not too much trouble about so decent scores are possible. I remain very impressed, the last hole is spectacular, although it was disappointing that the bar had closed by 5:45pm so the beer thirst went unquenched!(Round played: Jul 2017 - Score: 96 Handicap: 27.5)

A lovely day out.
We visited as a party of 24 friends from our golf club in July 2017. The golf package consisted of bacon sandwich and coffee on arrival , 18 holes golf followed by two course dinner in the stylish restaurant . The whole day was most enjoyable, made the more so by the friendly welcome extended by the professional and all of the catering staff who were so courteous and efficient throughout the day.The golf course is excellent, the fairway turf must be amongst the best in the country. If you are looking for a venue for a stylish day out this must be one of the better choices.Reviewer Rating

Overrated layout, no definition!!
Serious letdown, having wanted to play this course for 2 years, we booked up in February ready for the July comp. The clubhouse/house is stunning and the views amazing but that's not why I'm there, I'm there for golf. very very bland layout greens OK having played some stunners lately, this was average at best. no definition to see where fairways ended and rough started.
18th the feature hole was a stunner but 1 hole in 18 doesn't make it a memorable day out, sadly the 1hr 45mins drive was wasted. I'm sure in 30 years time it will be stunning but it's a new course and very bland.
Practice facility was an overgrown field good for a wedge only and a putting green with no NET either.
Not for me and at £30 I've over paid having played plenty for £20 or less in the opens. I hope you enjoy it more than me :-(

Disappointing
Lovely setting, however the Greens were in poor condition with most on front nine having recently hollow tined.Reviewer Rating

The Astbury - Golfing heaven?
The only slight downside to my 27 holes on the day was that we chose the hottest day of the year so far and it hit 32.5c and there isn't really much shade on the course! The course is well laid out and extremely well manicured. The greens are quick and true (they were ironing the 18th as we arrived!) There are some cracking holes spread out around the 18 holes with the 18th being a shortish par 3 with all carry over a lake. The flag appeared to be about a yeard on from where we looked so it was brave to take it on!
The fescue though looking wispy just gobbled up the balls if you ran offline or through the fairway. Accuracy very definitely helped. The greens had been baked a bit after 5 days of 30c+ and perhaps could have been watered a bit as holding the balls on them was not the easiest task.
It is quite a long course to walk and as much of the walking between holes is on buggy paths it does tire out your feet. If you are doing more than 18 holes I would strongly suggest taking one of the buggies that were available.
Because there are no members pace of play is very good and Societies are definitely welcome. The bacon roll to start the day was excellent, and the coffee even better! We had Sandwiches and chips for lunch and this was more than adequate as we still had 18 holes to play.
If I have to be picky, I wasn't so impressed by the bunkers as some had a lot of fluffy sand and others were very sparse with gritty sand, but it was my fault for getting in them so can't really complain.
The course is kept immaculate and there are no bins to be seen anywhere so you take home what you came with, and to be honest it was spotless. I can't recall any ball washers on the course but may just not have seen them as the ball was never dirty!
Most of the sprinkler heads on the fairways have a yardage marked on them as well as the discs in the fairway.
Would I go back? Oh yes definitely, might find a slightly cooler day though, or use a buggy failing that, but I will definitely be back.
