Heacham Manor Golf Club
The new 18 hole golf course at Heacham Manor is set within an area of Important Landscape quality.
The designer has taken this designation into careful consideration to ensure the course fits seamlessly within the natural environment.
The course has two distinct characters born from its natural topography. It begins in a parkland style playing up Redgate Hill through established and newly planted trees. This landscape soon changes to a more links style with greater mounding, more shrub planting and raised undulating greens adding to the test.
The front nine remains predominately links style with three large lakes to negotiate. The first and second lakes are linked by a winding stream fed from a weir which protects the front of the short par 3 fifth hole. The third and largest lake provides the setting for the signature 7th hole. Also a par 3, the hole requires a well struck shot to carry the 100 yards of water fronting the green.
A long course at over 7,000 yards means it will be one of the longest in Norfolk, however with a number of teeing areas on each hole the course will be playable for all handicaps. The Natural features of the Heacham and Ringstead Rivers run through the course and the design maximises these to the full potential, the rivers being an integral part of the 3rd, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th holes. As well as the rivers the 4 lakes are great features with the 7th hole demanding a long carry of 180 yards off the whites straight to the green with water all the way. A planting scheme is also in place with native species of trees and shrubs planted to enhance the course and complement existing trees and bushes on the golf course.
In addition to this new 18 hole course our adjoining sister resort has a mature 9 hole course, with excellent driving range, putting green and clubhouse facilities. This makes Heacham Manor an ideal venue for golfing groups and societies. Our resident golf professional will be on hand to provide any necessary tuition with the latest video analysis equipment. One of the newer links courses in Norfolk. Have played this a few times now through from summer time and have found it a well kept course. The manor house it self makes an ideal tranquil setting if you fancy taking the wife/partner/secretary! The course is fairly long at just over 6200 yrds on the yellows so some big hitting is required, especially if that easterly wind gets up! Worth a visit for all handicaps as a wayward shot is not always punished, but some lakes & dykes make it fun.... You can also tee off from the Searls resort and start at the 10th if your there.

Tough...tough...tough! Not really in playable condition due to heavy waterlogging in places that just stopped any drive dead. Not helped by gale force winds coming in from the sea over the flat Norfold landscape making for real testing conditions. Having said that quite an interesting test and I will be back...in the summer!

Played here twice and had an excellent time. Would benefit from a pro shop and halfway hut of some sort as it is a long course.
