What the club says: Hunstanton links is a classic 'out and back' design, on either side of a central spine or dune ridge. The 12th, 13th and 14th holes play across this ridge. The new 18th, also on the seaward side, is equally difficult! In 1971 and 2002-4, new bunkering was introduced on 8 of the holes, making Hunstanton, from the back tees and with the usual breezes, a tough but exhilarating test of golfing skill.

I played in the summer of 2022. I was really impressed with the condition of the course considering the time of year and weather we had. The layout of the links was great and the views were stunning. This was my first time playing here, and it exceeded my expectations.

Brilliant fun, such a good test of golf.

Avoid the pot bunkers on the greens as they are card wreckers.

Some beautiful holes and such a good test for players of all abilities.

A lot of 4 irons played of tees for position.

Quality

Easy to see why this is in / around the top 100 courses lists. Some really challenging holes but not too many hills. In superb condition.

Fantastic course worth visiting

We went to Hunstanton at the weekend as we wanted to play somewhere drier than our local course and it was one of the top 100 courses in the UK and I am trying to play more of those. The greeting from the pro was good, he asked if we had played there before and as we hadn't, he gave us a course map to show where everything was and also warned us about a couple of holes that were affected by the rain water. A friendly member saw us in the car park and we had a chat which was nice. We played the course and it was great, it's a good test and the greens were in fantastic condition. There were some bunkers that are way below the level of the green and are a test. There is a blind 200 yard par 3 that is tricky and the 17th green is so narrow with a drop off to the right which punishes errant shots. This is a fantastic course and I want to come back and play it in the summer.

Shocking

I played this place in August 2019, so it should have been immaculate, but it wasn't. I have never been so disappointed after walking off a golf course EVER. A serious case of "Emperors New Clothes" I think. After playing £100 to play I expected it to be far far better than it was. I've played infinitely better places for far less money. The course was scruffy, sure it's a links, but really??? Unkempt bunkers. Bunkers without sand. One hundred notes and no sand in bunkers? Greens that were mottled in colour, This was AUGUST for god's sake!!!!! They should have been GREEN. They looked like they had just come out of a horrendous winter. The first fairway was awash with divots all in the same place. It appeared that someone had been practicing firing into the green! This set the tone. Very unfriendly lady in the shop. We were handing over £200, surely a smile would have been the least to get in return? Overall a shocking experience and one I will never repeat. (Yes I did contact the club over this and informed a member who played behind us on the day in question of my opinion).

A Fabulous Links

This is a fabulous links course with something for everyone, play well and there's some good birdie opportunities, hit bad shots and you'll be punished by the well placed bunkers. There's a great mix of holes - some interesting short par 4s, a nice blend of par 5s and some great looking par 3s. Greens are tricky and fast but true and fairways give plenty of run to well hit shots. It's a course you'll come off and already start thinking about coming back to!

Quality Links Course

This is a real supreme Links course, beautifully kept and located, an absolute gem. It's a very tough course and requires lots of patience. Very fortunate to play in near perfect conditions, would be challenging if blowing a gale!!!
