Played the academy course and it was in poor condition. The fairways didn\'t have a good covering of grass and the greens looked awful but to be fair did roll reasonably. The course is very tight and you\'re likely to lose your ball if you\'re not on the fairway. As with many courses the sand in the bunkers looked compacted. This is not a course for a learner. I play to 18 and found it very tight.

I read the review written at the end on June 2014 and decided to return for a round at High Legh after not playing there for about 5 years.

Not sure what course the previous reviewer had played on but it couldn't have been the same one as me. This has to be one of the most poorly kept courses I have ever been on. For a private members club, which is by no means inexpensive to be a member of, it should be ashamed at the condition of it.

The greens were awful, most of the them had tram lines in them and there were groundsmen out there seeding them whilst we played. It was a very hot day (about 27 degrees and the 23rd July) and the greens were being seeded? Bizarre.

There was one groundsman who had an enormous hose, watering the par 3 2nd green as we were on the tee. We waited for him to finish and hit our shots. When we got to the green there were 3 puddles about 3 inches deep around the green. What's all that about?

I have played on cheap municipals which were in better condition that this course. Greens were like poorly kept fairways and tee boxes were a mess. If I was a member of a club who was building a teaching academy costing £800,000 and my course was in this state I'd be asking questions.

Hope they improve it as it's a shame it have become the state it's in.

On a plus note - the guys in the pro shop were great. Very welcoming and cheerful.

Very poor quality course. The greens were slow are there were damp patches all over the fairways, despite the may summer weather! Overall, the course was very flat with only a hint of decoration. There were hardly any trees on the course and the water hazard on the 18th hole looked like a death trap waiting to happen.
Pro shop was very poorly stocked and seemed only aimed at women, the cafe seemed much the same, well laid out, but extremely unwelcoming, the prices were ridiculous for what turned out to be coffees spilt into the saucer and all over the cup and a stale bacon barm.
Overall, a disappointing day out and a complete and utter waste of time and money.

Played over the weekend. Course was in horrendous condition with badly cut greens. Clubhouse was disappointing - we ordered breakfast and the staff didn't seem bothered by our 45 minute wait and when it arrived, it was horrific. Wouldn't recommend this course or club to anybody, not surprised the green fee was so cheap!

Academy course

Paying ?15 for a short 9 hole course I expected it to be in better conditions, the greens especially were really poor.

Not Bad

We played high legh as a 4 ball and had a great day to be honest however the course was not in the best of conditions, the greens were poor and fairways were average, the course layout is good, i was extremely excited to play high legh but left underwhelmed, green fees were cheap and the day was made better by the company we had. maybe if i play again next summer i will see this course in all its glory.

The course is fantastic along with the American golf store. However the last few visits we have had have been shocking as regards the staff in the pro shop!!....always seems to be an issue with something such as booking, times, or turning up on the course mid round with an obnoxious attitude does not help anybodies round!...I shall not be playing the course for a long time!, heyrose just round the corner is how a pro shop should be run with great staff and a welcoming attitude. The club needs to address this attitude problem before I play there again. My money shall be spent at other local clubs!!

Management of course and facilities poor with priority given to visitors and societies rather than members. Suffers from waterlogging especially in winter.
My daughter has resigned her membership in favour of another local club.

Played the changed course for the first time yesterday and would have to say the new holes have not improved the course overall. There was an awful lot of surface water on the course. The greens were in poor condition with bare patches, areas of compresses moss and they needed a cut. The tees were all in poor condition and didn't look particularly well cared for. All in all disappointing because I've played the course in the past and found it in much better condition.

Not the greatest of courses and pretty featureless. Very poor course markings with little indication of hazards etc. Pro shop poorly stocked unless you want to buy womens clothing and the bar food costs and portion sizes are way over priced.

The course was very wet, as it has been all Winter. For the first 9 holes the fog was quite bad, we couldn't see where shots had finished and struggled to see where the pins were located. This did not stop us from enjoying the golf. The greens were slow, and look like they had too much mossy patches on them, these greens need some sun/dry weather to improve speed and trueness.

Ok course but spoiled by society fourball ahead of us taking forever. 4 hours 45 minutes!
Think the course is over priced, even with voucher was £25 and i've played plenty of better courses for less money.

Very poor drainage. It was more of a mud slide than a gold course. Need wellies and not golf shoes

Good day, course had rain but didn't detract from the game. Greens in excellent condition despite the heatwave we've had recently.
