awesome golf course in fantastic condition it really is a hidden gem hiding in the shadows of some high profile courses around. the greens are some of the best i have ever played all year round. the layout is fantastic and tests all areas of your game and it always seems pretty breezy there. free balls to hit of a fantastic range really added to my experience plus the food is rather tasty there to! worth a visit!

An excellent course with lots of bunkers tightly surrounding the holes. You need to be accurate into the middle of the greens because many are shaped like up-turned saucers where the ball runs off into a bunker!

Course was in excellent shape as it always is. Its long, challenging and one of the best inland links courses in the country.

Played in August 2007, this course seriously punished stray shots with its unforgiving rough. I had to re-read my "how to play golf" books after playing here. A serious challenge but you learn a thing or two about your swing and yourself on this course!

Superb Castle Royle!

Played Castle Royle yesterday as part of a society day. Teed off mid-morning, slightly overcast but dead still with no wind. Greens quick and true to begin with, but as the day warmed up and the sun came out, they got really quick and were an absolute pleasure to play on, despite the potential to make you look silly at times. Bunkering excellent on this course, lots of them and strategically placed to make you think your way round. Not a bomber's course at all, only two drivers hit all day as 3-wood or long iron for position made much more sense. Tee boxes excellent, fairways good despite the lack of rain over the past few months. Would happily play this course every week!

Great course, well designed with superb greens! Also has great practice facilities. Plays a little bit like a links course, with fast undulating greens, open and windy.

The experience is slightly pro tour with lots of bunkers, 6800 yds and the need to hit high soft landing long irons and rescues. Pack a 5 wood if you play there. Some of the entrances to greens are tiny yet there is huge space for an errant drive. Essentially its a rip it with a driver course requiring very little shape or control off the tee. Early greens have steep slopes that make you wary despite being a pretty flat course. Greens were very good in July 14.

Thoroughly enjoyed playing this course. I look forward to playing there again when the treatment of the greens is complete when a higher satisfaction score is probable.

In great condition

The greens are fast and tricky and fairways just slightly brown in places but no bare patches or cracks. For m just too many bunkers

First time playing the course. Really enjoyed the challenge, weather was not so kind making a few of the holes very long as we were off the whites. Could do with a few more bunkers......not. The 18th is a stunning finishing hole all par 3's are tough. Great day
