It was very wet day to play what looks like an excellent track which was a shame. The scoring matched the weather I’m afraid and we were pushed along at times by two fast three balls so at times you couldn’t get to see the course in its prime. Look forward to another round in more pleasant conditions.

Bit of a shame

The good. Hospitality and staff. Greens were awesome. Nice layout.

The bad. Fairways were really poor and bare in places

The ugly. Everything around the poor fairways were basically mud, no grass. Awful.

It a shame because it has makings I think of a wonderful course.

I won't play here again

This is a decent course, but basically not so welcoming to visitors.
On the 4th hole I hit my driver into the trees so played a provisional. Found my original ball, hit it out but caught it fat, so I dropped another one and just hit. At this point playing as a single with nobody in front or behind. Out of nowhere one of the ground staff approaches and starts berating me for "practicing" on the course. He then followed me for 4 holes! I just about managed to keep my temper.
By the 10th I caught a foursome of members who seemed to be trying to play the slowest golf ever, I timed them at 12 minutes on 1 green alone. They steadfastly refused to let me play through - I hung back, but I could here them quite happily talking about not letting me through
I've played literally hundreds of courses and nearly always they're welcoming and friendly, but some just want to cling on to their outdated ways.
Spend your money somewhere else in my view, there are plenty in the area

The course is in the latter stages of completing a landfill redevelopment and improving its irrigation system. Large areas of GUR that have still to be reseeded.
It will take two or more months to settle down. Not at present the great course that it is.

Good society course

Played a society event here. Scores ranged from 21pts to 41pts.
Fairly easy walking. Some badly worn sections on fairways but that is not unusual this year. Greens with large difference in level and tricky putts. Works in progress to improve practice facilities.

If Carlsberg did golf courses....

I have been fortunate enough to play Old Fold Manor twice now. Each time I have not been disappointed. The pro shop staff, the bar staff and the catering staff are very welcoming and helpful as are friendly membership who know how lucky they are. The course is perfect for all levels of skill. Wide fairways for those who like to grip it and rip it and tricky short holes with deep bunkers full of lovely soft sand. Despite the recent hot weather the greens were true and held the ball. I cannot recommend a visit to Old Fold Manor too strongly. It is surrounded by lots of good golf courses, but this one is special.

Nice course - worth a visit

Very nice course to play - 3rd visit and happy to return again in future. Greens in very good condition and extremely difficult to read (for me at least!)

Beautiful course not far from central London
