The Shire London
The Seve Masters course at The Shire London is laid out like few other golf courses in the world. There are six par 5s, six par 4s and six par 3s, and on both the front 9 and the back 9, no two consecutive holes are the same par, with equal numbers of par 3s, 4s and 5s. This gives maximum variety, and maximum enjoyment - a core philosophy of Seve's designs.Contact Information

Wow!!! This is one not to be missed, water water everywhere, this course is not for the faint hearted, great course to play not much room for errors, take plenty of balls, the course is the best looking course i have seen in the London area, it looks very american and plays like a linx course, the food and club house are 5*

I only started playing golf about 5 weeks ago and have been looking around at courses in Hertfordshire that will hold my interest and give me a challenge to grow with.. I did a lot of research and spoke to pro\'s from various locations about all the clubs in my area.. This course was in my top 5 affordable courses to try, with a view to joining and was the last one on my list.. Save the best to last?? I think i certainly did.I used every club in my bag... lost 5 golf balls to the fishes and scored a 101. Make of that what you will but i have never had so much fun... Brilliant days golf. The course was in great condition and the greens were quick. The club house was very welcoming and the staff could not of been more helpful...The question.. will i join?? well its a toss up between The London Shire and Porters Park... 2 great courses.. and i will be playing them both again before i decide.

Had a really good day on the package of £46.50 which included breakfast, very nice brekkie, but feel they could include tea or coffee as well.
Greens were being hollow tyned when we were there, but as they ironed, and then cut, they were actually not too shabby.
Nice clubhouse and good food, be good in 5yrs or so when the trees grow a bit moreThe Course

Will be a great course once it has matured. Good value for me as we were on a subsidised society day.

Excellent layout of a testing but rewarding course. Big hitters must be accurate as there is only a small margin for error- bunkers, streams and lakes are very well positioned. The greens were on the quick side but ran true and were well maintained.Plenty of balls lost but the welcome in the clubhouse afterwards could not be bettered. The service, quality and quantity of the dinner was first rate.

Managed to play The Shire for £30 by booking via teeofftimes.online. Great value for that sort of money.
You csan choose which tees you play from. Lots of hazards to negoiate. Greens are very undulating but quite slow when we played (2nd March 09).
Fantastic finishing hole.The Course

Seve Ballesteros designed course culminating in a large "S" shaped lake which house the green within the bottom of the "S". The are some really great holes, the first is a par three on an island like the 17th at Sawgrass. Great course great greens and great facilities.

A good, tough course ... needs several rounds to fully appreciate. Take a lot of spare balls - you will struggle to find a ball in the thick rough. Good course management to avoid water.

A tough course with plenty of water and bunkers and it will only become tougher with age as the trees grow !! Has a "links" feel to it and if there is a breeze it feels like a gale!
Would advise taking a fair few balls with you to make sure you finish your round! The Course

My home course. Always in good nick for a very new course. It will mature into a great track over time. Nice welcoming clubhouse with no airs and graces. Very tough layout with unforgiving traps and water but it is a great challenge and rewarding when you play well.

Played this course on a winter package which included tea/coffee + bacon roll on arrival, free bucket of balls for the range, 18 holes then finishing off with a two course dinner. All this for £50, so in my opinion that is very good value. The clubhouse is a modern building with a spanish feel, ceramic floor tiles etc... with a very nice relaxing feel to it.
Sadly it was a bit foggy on the day we played, so we did not see the full beauty until the fourth hole. The course is very very good, very pleasing to the eye and requires you not to be neccessarily long, but accurate in the placement of your ball. The 18th signature hole is one of the best I have played. The greens were firm and also very receptive. Again, there are places to put your ball on the green to have a chance of birdies and places that may see you hit bogeys! Some fairways were very undulating which made certain shots tricky as you had different lies. I would definately return, hopefully in the summer time to see the real beauty of this course. Remember it only opened in July 2007, but already a lovely course. The Course

A lovely course, very challenging the layout of each hole requires you to think about your club and shot.
Starts with a par 3, around 150 yards to an 'island' type green. This hole should make you realise the type of round you are in for. Many memorable holes in between 2, 4, 6, 7, 11, 13, 14, 17. Finishing with 18 where a good drive and controlled second shot are required to take on the 'S' water feature that surrounds the green.
A great course designed by Seve and built to his standard - The course is still young but already a cracker, put this on your 'list to play'.The Course
