What the club says: This part of the island offers amazing views of the volcanic scenery. The lush greenery of this stunning course really takes a back seat in contrast to its surroundings. It was designed by Dave Thomas and Roland Fauré, who have created a fantastic test that will challenge golfers of all levels. You’ll be punished for being wayward off the tee, but with some good course management, you can make the most of this thoroughly entertaining layout.

18 holes. Par 71. 6760 yards. Desert.

Very interesting course

First of all, I tried to walk this course with one of their pull trolleys (they do not have power trolleys). The one I picked up had huge wheels and was very heavy. I didn't think I could make it to 18 holes, so, as one of our party had a buggy, I shared it with her for the back 9. My advice - don't walk it unless you are very fit! It is quite hilly, and there are steep climbs and decents.

Moving on, the course is made up of very different holes, from a par 3 that is under 100 yards (over water), another par 3 which is around 200 yards from the side of a very large hill, up to and including a par 5 which I could not reach in 3 (about 560 yards off yellows) as it was entirely uphill after the drive. I enjoyed the course immensely, as it is rare to find a course where no two holes are the same.

Before teeing it up on the course, the holiday group I was with were having lessons, so we saw and used this area every day, and it was very well laid out with a number of areas to practice driving, chipping, bunker shots and putting.

The tees were almost all very small, and so were getting cut up. They could do with more tees, but sometimes difficult to see where these could be added. The fairways were perfect, and the greens were good, quick and with interesting slopes Bunkers had a decent amount of sand in them, although I did find one which was a little compacted under the loose surface. Pace of play was on the slow side, probably because there were lots of opportunities to have to search for wayward shots.

I believe the cost to play is Euro140, and another 20 each for a buggy which is also the amount you pay if you have one on your own. I consider the green fee is too expensive, but the course is so interesting, I can understand that people will pay it. Obviously this is a hotel course, and the food in the bar by the pro shop is very good.

Perfect course for average level golfer

Lovely views from every part of the course, great quality greens and fairways. A little damp although that is because the course is so well maintained and they do not want it to dry out.

Two rounds on South course and one on North course on a recent holiday. Got paired up only once (playing as as a single), but with another single so that turned out to be good. South course was very well designed, I thought, making the best of the available space and layout - a good challenge for most. North course was certainly more unique as it was set a lot more on and over the mountain areas. Maybe too many long carries over ravines and very steep inclines to feel like a more regular course, but it was still on the right side of interesting for me. But I did prefer the South course, though, and most will too.

A nice course with a lovely aspect in ok condition. Tee boxes and greens need some attention with lots of marks on some greens.

Hotel and practice areas well maintained.

this is the north course. skycaddie was not correct on both courses as there have been changes to both courses. was able to use skycaddie on most holes on north course but not at all on south. they also don't have yardage books for either course. a two round ticket was 163 euros, you need a buggy on north course but not on south although 15 euros a buggy i had one on both. no one i have spoken to likes the north course, i thought it was great it is at the top of the mountains it like they have found the flattest parts that they could put a hole on and made it that way so the distance between some holes was a good buggy ride usually uphill. there are also lots of canyons where you tee off over.if you are wide then most holes you would have to visit the drop zone, something i didn't realise until i got round doglegs etc. the greens were very slow and as i had come off fast greens i left a lot of putts short. for me it is a must play i enjoyed it more than the championship course. the hotel is owned by sheraton.
