What the club says: Meandering through olive groves and hills, this Robert Trent Jones designed course provides a testing and enjoyable round. It starts out as an intimidating track with the first few holes testing your accuracy, so you need to make sure you're ready from the start. An abundance of bunkers greets you on every hole, leading up to large undulating greens. A number of brave tee shots are required over picturesque ravines and gullies to set up a good position for your approach to the green. There are also some beautiful views to the sea and central Marbella is only minutes away.
18 holes. Par 71. 6508 yards.

Good condition
Marbella course found in condition, minimal boar damage, 4.45 hours a bit slow, due to one member on his own slowing the day down by driving through everyone without asking can he play through, taken off after 9 by the stewards. Great place to eat and drink.Reviewer Rating

Very good test
Reception excellent, course starter was a real character. Although we tee?d off early and the course was wet it was presented very well. Some tough holes with some amazing scenery . If you're in the area it's a great place to spend a few hoursReviewer Rating

Lovely setting and quirky layout
Really tight first nine and greens were really quick. Really enjoyed the layout, some excellent holes. Hospitality at the course was really friendly and the beer and food reasonably priced. Best club sandwich I have ever had!Reviewer Rating

A course of two haves: front nine is ridiculous!
It's hard to believe that this course was designed by the same person who laid out Mijas Lagos and Olivos (Robert Trent Jones Snr - he must have been losing his marbles when he designed the front nine. It has an amazingly opulent clubhouse and the staff are very friendly but the course condition was the poorest of the 5 courses we played on the trip, with the greens in particular being a bit bobbly and of average speed. The front nine is squeezed into the hillsides between the houses on the outskirts of Marbella. It is overly penal and some of the holes, notably the 4th and 8th, are downright ridiculous. The 4th has a tiny plateau area to try and lay up on and the attempt to drive the green is nigh-on impossible. The 8th hole has a 50 metre drop to a fairway about 20 yards wide with lost ball territory waiting for those who miss the fairway. Hitting a 7 iron off the tee of a par 4 just to find a fairway is not right. The two pars 3s on the front nine are good holes and the par 5 6th is one of the best in the whole of the Costa del Sol. Once you reach the 10th tee you are mentally spent just as the golf course becomes more open and playable. You still need to have played the course before to know where you are going but these holes are much better, particularly the par 5 13th although the course does end with a somewhat forgettable par 4 hole. The problem is, you are done by the time you get there. Wild horses probably couldn't drag me back to play this course. The only other time I have said that was for Alhaurin, another ridiculous layout in the Costa del Sol hills.(Round played: Nov 2019 - Score: 81 Handicap: 3.3)
