La Cala Golf & Spa Resort
The natural features of the La Cala terrain have been used to challenging effect by the renowned golf course architect, Cabell B. Robinson. The three courses are carefully maintained to ensure they are playable all year round. The North Course (now renamed Campo America) is perhaps more difficult than the shorter South (Campo Asia) but both demand great accuracy from the tee and careful club selection.
Meanwhile, the third golf course, Campo Europa, uses the River Ojen in making the course distinctive. The layout allows for plenty of water hazards. All three offer different challenges to all levels of golfers and demand good course management in addition to a wide variety of shots. Contact Information

I've just come back from playing all three courses at this resort.
As a 20 handicapper I found each course very challenging. We started on the Campo America. A beautifully laid out course that I found the easiest. There are some breathtaking holes on all three courses, buy with my playing partner we liked this one the best.
We went on to play the Europa which has water and ravines on at least 8 holes, go off track here and you suffer as I proved. There were some holes that not only demanded that you be straight but you also better be long or your ball is a goner.
The last course was Asia which is slightly flatter than the other two but the fairways are narrower, though go off track and you probably would find your ball to drop out.
There is a deal to play all three courses for 150 euros, but you have to book and pay in advance and tee off before 10.00am. Otherwise it cost 57 euros to play each course which is far cheaper than other local courses (we played Mijas in between, we were charged 70 euros for a course that was in shocking condition, greens that were all over the place and generally we felt ripped off).
We are planning to come back and stay in the La Cala hotel as they have an attractive 1 week deal. The Course

Played all 3 courses September 2009 and had 1st tee-time each day. Beautiful watching the mountains changing colour as you play. Our group of 4 booked an apartment at the bottom of the hill near Mijas Costa, about 3 miles from the course, as they are very cheap and the apartments are larger than at the course itself.
The golf cost us 150 Euros for the 3 rounds which included buggies, which I thought very good value and far cheaper than most courses in the area. The 3 courses were very different from each other - all very challlenging but not impossible for a 20 handicapper.
I am just waiting for the flight prices to come down a bit before I book again for this September! The Course

The three courses are nearly always busy and provide a fair challenge to the average golfer. Remember to check the green fees before you go as they offer reasonable packages from time to time. Otherwise prices can be extortionate. Be patient with the British officials who buzz around in their buggies urging you to keep up with the game in front. They can become irritating at times.

What to say I played two of the three courses( Europa and America) Europa handed me my own arse it was tough and unforgiving if you strayed off line but still enjoyable and a real challenge. America I felt was less punishing with some of the most stunning par 5's I have ever seen. I didnt want to come home but the missus made me!!! If you get the chance play at least one of these fantastic courses.

Fantasticly laid out course with great backdrops and feels like you are playing on your own. Pace was good and didn't see very many people on the course (but it was booked out)

Three great course. Played them all now. Don't have a particular favourite as they are all good and challenging in their own different way. Facilities are excellent.

Fantastic course,Please be aware any high handicap player you will need a bucket full of balls. Arrive at the course early. You will not believe how far the first tee is from the clubhouse and buggies are a most .But to say the course is spectacular would be a understatement. It is a must for any golfer visiting spain. Also make the most of the deals at the course and you could play all three courses on the resort for a fair price.
