What the club says: The terrain is superb and typical of the area, sandy and littered with umbrella pines trees. In the spring, the rough is covered with a blanket of wild flowers, heather and gorse. The Fairways and tees are covered with Bermuda hybrid with a cool season mixture of grasses, which provides year-round, top quality swards. The greens are sown with Creeping Bentgrass Penncross, giving a fast, true putting surface, and which provide good all-year round putting surfaces. The bunkering is incomparable, both on the fairways and surrounding the greens and gives the course an advantage over many of similar quality and design.

Course recovering from recent work so not in the best of conditions, fairways are a bit bumpy but generally OK. Very different to the South, a cart is a must have as there is a lot of walking between tees otherwise. Pace of play great, think in Sept/Oct it will be back to full strength (im being unfair comparing it to South here)

Overall, the North Course didn't disappoint. You can see why it is so highly regarded by golfers who have flocked to Quinta do Lago over the years. It's as tough as you make it and if you put a good score together around here then you will have deserved every part of it. A real gem.

Quinta North

Fantastic & quick greens
Very quirky lay out, lot of driving between holes, but buggies are provided/necessary. Very tough 2nd hole Par 3 over water, but can run it in with a straight drive down the left.Reviewer Rating

Amazing course. lovely fairways, greens and bunkers. Houses in the area are amazing to see.
Weather conditions are top. It can be expensive, but both North and South are in the top 10 courses in Europe.

Outstanding course and venue
I played here 6 or 12 months ago and the greens were poor. At the moment they're very good. Not too quick. The course as a whole is in excellent condition and the clubhouse superb.Reviewer Rating

Remodelled by Paul McGinley a few years ago to be tournamennt ready, so greens are very tricky. Some long walks between holes, but overall very enjoyable. Beware 3rd (par 3 over water) and 12th (2nd shot to green all over water)

Great course

Superb golf course although greens weren’t great today
The three Quinta do lago golf courses are all outstanding. Of the three the north greens were worst. The layout is possibly the best. Impeccable fairways and bunkers.(Round played: Nov 2021 - Score: 80 Handicap: 7)

Really nice; great condition. Buggies and the layout in using them very annoying. Not clear when you can go on the fairway before they cut out - need more signs.

Course ok but...
The buggy system is a disgrace most of the fairways you cannot take the buggy on, however there is no indication of this until the buggy cuts out and you have to reverse off the fairway. This was exceptionally frustrating. The greens had been peppered by people not repairing their pitchmarks, so although ran at a good pace was rare to get a true line. I am hopeful it will improve when the South course opens and there is less traffic and time for the North course to recover / be repaired.(Round played: Aug 2021 - Score: 96 Handicap: 21.4)

Great course
This course is quite difficult. It’s wonderful. Twice I plugged in bank of bunkers. I thought it was advisable to have the banks hard so the ball rolls down and it’s fairer.(Round played: Jun 2019 - Score: 85 Handicap: 8.1)

Best course on the Algarve
Had heard so much about Quinta North following the extensive changes and it lived up to all expectations. What an absolutely stunning golf course and, without doubt, the best on the Algarve for me. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in superb condition and, whilst not the cheapest golf course to play, well worth playing to treat yourself.Reviewer Rating

Prepare to walk
The course is suppose to be the premium course at Quinta do Lago but it feels a little disjointed as you can easily loose your way around with some long walks between greens and tees crossing roads etc;(Round played: Nov 2018 - Score: 93 Handicap: 11.3)
