Worthing Lower (Championship) Course is the most interesting of all the Downland Links courses and the best test of golf. The course is excellent, especially around the magnificent series of holes coming before the turn in a picturesque valley known as Deep Bottom that rises up towards Cissbury Ring, the site of an old Roman Fort.
The Upper Course provides an interesting contrast to the Lower Course. With a total length of 5211 yards against the 6505 yards of the Lower, it is a less exacting test for the handicap player. However, its smaller scale requires greater accuracy and allows fewer margins for error.
Both courses command breathtaking views of the English Channel, the finest provided by the holes around the turn on the Upper Course. They offer you a panoramic view of the whole stretch of the Channel from the Seven Sisters to the east across to the Isle of Wight in the west. Book a Tee Time

Played here following a very very wet 2 weeks - course was in perfect condition and not wet at all.
Although the course is short at just 5211 yards it bites back with the small and very tricky greens where there is a 3 putt waiting on every one of them (or that may have just been me)

Greens were a little erratic - however at this time of year, it's to be expected.

Have only played the upper course as yet enjoyed this course but have been told the lower course is more of a challenge time will tell .

Whilst it is the best course locally, it is not an amazing course. I did enjoy and some holes in particular but with in 1 hour of Worthing, you can find much better courses.

My home course. TWO excellent downland courses - The Lower and The Upper. I think you will struggle to find a better and more challenging course than The Lower. Rarely a flat lie and lots level changes, making distance judging tricky. Much the same can be said about the The Upper. However it is shorter not always requiring a wood off the tee. The course is still a good test of accuracy and with some beautiful views over the town, the sea and the South Downs.
In places the clubhouse need updating. After a torrid time with the catering, it looks to finally be sorted out.
Overall - definitely worth a visit.
