Lovely links track
Superb links course in a special part of the country for links courses. Nice varied layout which presents a decent test and challenge which is a joy to play. Lots of pot bunkers which I managed to avoid and some tough greens with contours and lots of run offs but in A way condition running true and fast. Bunker and fairways were also in great condition and first cut of rough not to testing but go any wider and it will be tough which you would expect.
The views from pretty much the whole course are fantastic with a view out to the sea/estuary. There is also something nice about a railway link running alongside a golf course.

In brilliant condition
Course is in brilliant condition, greens are superb. Pure links course and can be windy so need a range of shots to cope(Round played: Jun 2017 - Score: 46 Handicap: )

Tough true links golf course, really friendly people, great facilities all round. Working up from Liverpool this is the first in a stretch of 7 links courses, I think this is the best, certainly the most "true" links and better than its prestigious neighbour Royal Birkdale in my view

Great course, terrible weather to begin. One of few courses where it's possible to play throughout the year. Exclusive membership and high per round cost ensures it isn't overplayed but, to my mind this, a mistake.......however!!

Playing very well and in great condition - hard to believe its winter. Greens a little slower than usual with the ground being damp but full tee's and green's in use. Some repair work on bunkers, which means GUR, so slightly easier but looking steep when back in play.

Punishing rough needs to be avoided as once in you'll have to take your medicine even if you find your ball which wouldn't be easy.

The West Lancashire Golf Club is another at the top of the list of the best golf courses in the area. The tight fairways and lightning quick greens really do make this course a great test but a rewarding one at that. When the wind blows, this course is an exceptional challenge, but a must play nonetheless.Reviewer Rating

Pity the greens have been vandalised but can't understand why local rule allowing relief is not in force for the damaged greens. The cost of a bacon barm in the clubhouse is an extortionate £5 surely the most expensive bacon butty in the North of England! £30 for a buggy was also too expensive but I accept one or two other clubs are similarly priced.
