What the club says: Set against a beautiful backdrop, a round of golf at the Menzies Welcombe Golf Club is a wonderful experience. Our par 70 course, complete with sparkling lakes and rolling countryside, provides a thrilling challenge to the experts and an exhilarating introduction for novices.

It's a unique course, stretching over 6178 yard, with three par five holes and five par threes. What's more, in 1998 we were proud to host the prestigious European Seniors Tour Ryder Event. And now you can tread the same fairways as those great old pros.

Ok for the money
The layout is excellent and the general condition of the course was good, but the greens were dreadful, worst of the year for me sadly, I have played there before and so hopefully its only a temporary blip, as in the past they were good

Greens in bad shape, very patchy and bumpy
First impressions is great setup, you arrive at the clubhouse and find that coffee is £3 OK it's a hotel and a chain but over the top for us golfers sadly. maybe the corporate guys are happy paying that much.

Anyway, to the golf the clubhouse is nice and practice facilities #Range excellent with good chipping area along side with bunker. staff in the pro shop very helpful and welcoming :-) 4 PlayMore.Golf points for a game Friday morning at 8.56am bargain £12. rate for the day was £18.75.

Course layout is excellent and keeps you fit, up and down hills all day :-) sadly the green look like they need some help after the summers toll. very patchy and pretty bumpy and that's all 18 holes. some great holes along the way.

Last negative the shoe cleaner, trolley blower has been out of order for ages (Member told us)
good cheap visit for a Friday friendly. 100% play there again, hoping the greens look a bit more healthy.

Gorgeous Views!
I have been playing in the area for 5 years and heard a few people mention it... but I've never played it until yesterday evening. I can't believe how good it was! Every hole was unique. No boring up and downs...some really standout holes like the par 4 fourth over the ditch, the fifth around the corner and the 8th OMG what views and what a hole. Then the back nine with the downhill blind 12th was great fun. But the par 5 16th up to the hotel was so picturesque and then the thrilling 17th tee over the lake was incredible. I played a 2-ball for ?15 each and it was worth twice that. (a four ball at ?12.50 is out of this world.) Can't wait to play again. Only downside was the bar price was a rip off 2 drinks and a pack of nuts for ?12.30.Hmmm.

Greens immaculate and fairways also in good condition. First cut of rough just too high, looking for your ball sometimes difficult to find. Some of the pathways need tidying up to make it look and feel better. Having said that the course played well and we enjoyed the round. Pleasant in the clubhouse but a little slow. Would play again, value really good.

Tricky shorter course. Many different styles of holes and some really beautiful views. Holes 16 and especially 17 were stunning, playing up to the Manor and then away.

A lovely course with some challenging and varied holes. It was in superb condition in all aspects of golf course management. It was a lot more hilly than I expected and a buggy would be very handy for some golfers! A treat to play there.

Had a special deal of 18 holes and a bacon sandwich for £15 which made the course good value for money. Whoever designed the course had a predisposition for bunkers and there were dozens of them. The sand however was wet and compacted causing difficulty for a 28 handicapper. The tees were rubbish driving range type mats but there were no rubber tubes on which to place balls, the resultant holes were filled with broken tees and the mat itself would not allow tee penetration. Disappointing for a smart hotel course. Also found the course very hilly and tiring but I suppose at 76 I should not overly complain. Would not choose to play there again

The only thing to moan about was the tees and the mats used they were driving rage mats, couldn't get a tee into them, and the proper tees looked absolutely fine, obviously saving for the members

Course in excellent condition considering the rain we have had over the last week, no standing water anywhere. Course empty, so pace of play was great too. The pro shop staff were very friendly. The only slight negative for our group was that we couldn't get a cooked breakfast but other options were available.
