What the club says: The challenging 18 hole Tantara golf course measures 6056 yards in length with a par of 71 and offers a varied landscape with its many ancient oak and sweet chestnut trees, some reputed to be 300 years old and the oldest in Europe. The 9 hole par 3 Avon course measuring 1251 yards is set in the centre of the Tantara course, challenging those players wishing to hone their short iron play. This also suits the less experienced player and is the ideal place for those who wish to learn and those who only have a limited amount of time available.

work to do
hi all, course challenging, but work needed on both greens and fairways, still enjoyed it lovely setting ie river and wildlife all good, owners need to put more into course management, could be a fantastic golf venue.

A very interesting course. Only 8 bunkers on the whole course and 5 of those are on the very tough 217 yard, par 3 6th. Don't be fooled into thinking the course is easy. The holes are made tough by wise use of the hills, mounds, mature trees, small sloping and pin positions on the sharp slopes. Nice mix of open and tight driving holes. All in all, a lovely golf course despite some very slow play.

A pleasant setting for a open course where you can generally get away with the odd loose shot. Course in as good a condition as I've seen it. Greens could always be a be a bit quicker here but ran pretty nicely. Good speed of play, great location for a post work summer round.

Overall the course was in good condition. A bit scruffy around the greens. A good test for any class of golfer, there are no flat greens and knowledge of where to land on the greens is essential. There very few bunkers due to a restriction placed by the land owners ? There is only one par 5 on the back 9 but 4 on the front.

A beautiful spring day but not really the course to match. Played here several times and the layout is fine for our standard (16-20) but it was in the poorest condition I've seen. The greens and surrounding areas were woeful! Pits, holes and uneven surfaces on all greens made putting laughable. Also, itwas a nice Saturday so we expected it to be busy but it took 2hrs 40 to play the front 9 and waited every single shot. Too many groups who just needed spacing. We decided to play the front again rather than queuing round the back 9 and did it in an hour and 20!!

Clearly the course has been over played. Greens really need some time off to get back into shape. Far t9 many divots and marks. Otherwise a standard winter round.

Anthony Y rated 3 out of 5 - Nov 16 2016

Course is probably best played in the summer months, a number of holes at present are played off winter mats which is not ideal. Greens I would imagine have been very good in the summer, but at present they have suffered from what looks like Fusarium disease, making them patchy. There are however some very good deals including a round of golf and breakfast during the winter months.

A bit of slow play from a four ball in front of us, holding a queue of golfers. Did not replace pitch marks, ring bells or lets us through.
