Hill top course is challenging in the wind

I love this course.
You play on top of a hill at the very edge of the Cotswolds, the surrounding views of Bristol, Gloucestershire and Wales are stunning.
It also makes for a challenging round when its windy, which it was for us on Sunday.
The course has been well kept over the lockdown

Stinchcombe 12-1-19

Probably my 6th visit in last 3 years which says something as only play a dozen times a year and 45 minute drive to get here.

Upon arrival were told all Temporary greens which was a shame but understandable and we were only charged half price.

Course was in good nick as usual ,with the temp greens signposting would have been tricky for players new to the course.

Staff excellent as always and views are worth the Green fee alone, thoroughly recommend it and cant wait to get back when the course is fully operationial.

Played 16th Nov 2019 - 4 ball visitors. Spectacular views from a number of holes on front 9. This course is top value for £17.50. Even though 6 holes were on temps course was in remarkable condition. James braid is a genius. What a fabulous spot to have a golf course. We will be back in the summer. Thank you.

Nice view

Lovely course. I last reviewed this course on the 22nd of May 2016 and to be honest little has changed.

When playing this course today, the fairways were undergoing maintenance but normally the fairways excellent. The greens are often slightly elevated which makes for interesting chip shots and bunkers were top quality as they normally are, the tees were pushed forward which shorted this long course a little.

The course could do with more ball cleaners at tees and some rubbish bins more frequently. If i was to have a little issue with the course, is that some of the holes feel a little samey, long par 4, smash driver for the tee shot.... Only in the summer when the rough is lethal would one start consider playing safe with a long iron from the tee. Where as courses nearby with tight fairways with little escape force you to play safe. There is no practice green (which they could do with) or driving range at this club but they do have nets to warm up in and an area for chipping.

The views at the course are my favourite in the golfing area because you can observe the Severn valley from the course which is on the Cotwoldsway. You can see down as far as the Severn bridge and observe the shadows of the Malvern hills in Herefordshire. The view is stunning. When this course is full priced I personally think there is better evening rates, during the summer months, however the £20 winter rate (£15 due to fairway maintenance) is fair.

(Round played: Mar 2019 - Score: 89 Handicap: 17.1)

Recently played 4 rounds in a day at Stinchcombe as part of a charity event. Wonderfully friendly club with a short but challenging course. Despite the very warm and dry weather, every green was receptive and ran well. A challenge for mid to high handicappers but chances to score well if you can avoid the well designed green side traps. Rough was deep but fairways were fair so rightly punishing poor shots. Highlight is without doubt the views which are breathtaking from most holes particularly the front 9 and a must visit on a dry, calm day.

Great course for the money. Fairly open parkland with some interesting views across the Severn valley into South Wales. Little bit windy but with the open parkland it didn't make a lot of difference. However, the pro informed us that they were keeping the rough a little low at the moment due to the local cattle rules.....really... i would hate to see it when it gets long !!!!!

all-in-all a friendly helpful place and the staff were extremely pleasant in the clubhouse afterwards. May even consider joining

Played on a very hot July day. Great views out to the Severn Crossing, down the Cotswold scarp and across the Severn Estuary. Very fair course - you get good value for shots. Nice layout - not long but challenging. Greens are in fantastic nick - a credit to the greenskeeping staff. Friendly staff and members, and a bar with real ale - always a plus. For my money one of the best courses in the county.

Course was in excellent winter condition. The greens though slow were incredibly consistent, and the few temporaries in play were in good condition as they are cleverly placed off the normal lines of the course foot traffic, which rather than plonked in the fairway in front of the green

A very enjoyable although challenging course, very forgiving for high handicappers like myself. Beautiful views and we were made very welcome by both the Pro and catering staff. An excellent day!

Nice open course , nit too many hazards so you can let your swing go for more distance , tees arent marked too clear so may struggle to find the next one unless your following a group
