Very good value for money. Well kept. Good greens, fairways. Tee off grass all year round. Clubhouse offers tea and cold pre made sandwiches toilets and room to change. But not much else. Very picturesque. Well worth the drive.

For the time of year the course is not bad, play is from correct tees, and all the greens were playable and in good condition

played 9 holes on a little course absolutely great for beginners and good players alike, lovely greens but as a low level player found the fairways were not too fair and grass left long stopping my ball dead in its tracks (must try to hit a bit longer ) R Atkinson

I think this is the best pay-and-play golf course in the area. The greens are immaculate and are like putting on carpet. The course has got better as it matures. The only downside in my opinion in the unnecessarily grumpy owner.

Two completely different nines ! Relatively easy front nine which then gets more complicated and hilly on the back nine. This course is adequate if you want to turn up and pay and play. Don't expext Pie , Peas & a pint though. Best is some homemade sandwiches and lucosade ! Very forgiving course for the higher handicapers though. Greens ok too but could do with better signage around the course in my opinion. Good value at £16 weekend golf

Decent greens for pay-and-play. Many generous fairways. Can be very wet, even in Summer months. Overall, well worth the green fees.

Spofforth, The thing I like hare is you know you will always get a game, there is no booking a tee time, you can just turn up pay your money and go tee off. Some people will say the course does need some improvement, and they could be right, there could be a few more hazards on the fairways, but I think you have to be on your game or the course will eat you for breakfast, there are some really nice hole to play, and the signature is the 13th.

Not a bad course - in good condition for this time of the year - just wished it could have been a bit warmer! Front 9 a bit samey but enjoyed the back 9!

Good value at £17, shame the Tees don't get some attention. Not many hazards but the greens are hard to read.

As already mentioned Spofforth is the only real pay and play course in the town. It's really for the beginner to intermediate level golfer as the fairways are wide and flat, and there's not much feature to it.
The greens are really frustrating because there's an inch high crown around every hole which doesn't help your putting stats. The other frustrating element is the tees. They're uneven and soft.
All in all it's not bad for a practice round but it's not a course for the better golfer

This is the only real pay and play/ none members course in Harrogate. It tends to be used when all the other courses in the area are closed due to heavy rain and waterlogged greens and by a lot of hackers on a weekend - I know, I was (and still am) a hacker.
The greens are quite good although feel a bit spongy but they play well. The front nine are pretty much straight up and down but the back nine are a bit more interesting.
The facilities are pretty basic (no bar and micro waved bacon butties) but if you want to play golf and you're not a member anywhere or your course is closed this is where to go. At £15 per round you wouldn't expect St Andrews.
