Southerness Golf Club
Southerness, Kirkbean, Dumfries and Galloway, DG2 8AZ United Kingdom
The terrain is level allowing for easy walking with no hills to climb. Being totally remote from large centres of population a feeling of being well away from the rat race is engendered. This feeling is enhanced by the course design which means that players are seldom aware of others on the course.
McKenzie Ross's brilliant design has been complemented by an excellent Head Greenkeeper and staff, who have now had a settled period of several years together which has brought the course into tip top condition. This has been recognised by "Golf Monthly", who have included Southerness in their list of top 100 courses in Britain and Ireland each year since 1990. Book a Tee Time

Caught this course on a blustery day so proved very tricky but between the group of us some achieved respectable scores.
Gorse and heather catches anything off the fairway but there are some memorable holes, particularly the 12th which ends just before the water starts.
Course in excellent condition but clubhouse and facilities in a little need of a spruce up.
