When we booked we were not told we were being put out in the middle of a society who must play about once a year and never practice.
5 and half hour round midweek is not acceptable.
Course is pretty tough, in an unpleasent rather than challenging way. For example, after hitting what I thought was a nice drive up the left centre of the fairway i effectively had to chip out sideways from the fairway as there was nowhere to hit.
Too difficult for societies of hackers to play, they should go elsewhere but I understand Silvermere are grabbing money just like everyone else.
Need to employ marshalls, i dread to think what weekends are like.
I definately wont go back, standards are slipping in the pursuit of more cash

There are a lot of holes where finding the fairway is not that easy for higher, maybe even mid-handicappers, and with the length of the holes it will make it tough getting many pars. The scoring probably has to be done on the par 3's, which are generally the easier of the holes on the course.
It is a fabuolus place to play though, just as long as you don't expect to beat any scoring records.

A real delight
Played a twilight round with teenage son on his first round. Am a member of Foxhills which is an expensive local private members course and hadn’t played Silvermere for 20 years. Was blown away with how good the condition and lay-out of the course was and also what exceptional value for money the day was. Good variety of holes, challenging without being overly penal. Scenic and some interesting dog leg holes combined with some forgiving par 3’s and then some breathtaking and really fun water holes. The fairways and greens were really top draw and a pleasure to play on. Wider facilities are exceptional from the driving range to the golf shop which is known for miles around for the range and extent of the products on offer. Pace a little slow with a 3 ball who insisted on 5-7 practise swings each per shot but didn’t take the edge off a thoroughly enjoyable day out.Reviewer Rating

Good ratings for good reason
Considering the volume of traffic Silvermere must get, together with it's extraordinary shop and facilities, I was pleasantly surprised at how good the course was looking, as we approach the height of summer. It's tricky, the first 6 in particular are very tight, but playing amongst the laurel and rhododendron bushes has a lovely Wentworth kind of feel. The signature holes at 17 and 18 were still looking magnificent. Very friendly attendant driving around on hand with drinks and snacks if needed, and pleasant starter who warned us of a potentially slow round. Silvermere all round is excellent, and you can often find a half decent price to pay on a challenging and beautiful course.Reviewer Rating

Silveremere - a must visit venue.
Played here in sunny conditions in June. Amazing huge pro-shop with helpful staff. The two-tier driving range with shot-tracer was great fun to start where we had our Longest Drive competition before we teed off.
The course was in great condition. Fast and smooth greens, very receptive and undulating. Fairways were excellent.
The course is amazing, but don't be fooled into thinking it is easy.
Accuracy off the tee is key with tree-lined, narrow fairways where it is very difficult to position yourself with a flat lie.You willl need to have a good score going before you play the 17th & 18th holes, as both with shots over water can wreck any score card.
Both holes are beautiful to the eye but are fraught with danger.
Facilities afterwards were excellent, great food, nice balcony by the 18th green watching others splash it into the water!!!
Golf day organisers were so hopeful too.
One of the best courses to play in the South and a must visit.

Good course bad management
Great course but they let a 5 ball play on the course. The round was very slow. I was in a 2 ball and had to wait on the tee box for every hole. I told a marshal on the course and he didn't do anything about it.Reviewer Rating
