This is easily the best winter course I have played recently. Yes its not long and when the wind is still the course is there to get after...but...when it blows its a different animal and a real test. At £20 for bacon roll/coffee and the golf it cant be beaten. Course is a natural links and so remains in cracking condition.

I originally wanted to play the adjacent Littlestone GC which is very highly rated but as I was playing with a 28+ handicapper and the green fee was £85 at the weekend I decided the best compromise was the Romney Warren.
We got off to a good start with a very friendly welcome in the Pro shop and having now returned from my trip to Littlestone I'm happy to report that at £25 at the weekend for a visitor I think this is the best value course I've ever played.
At only 5250 yards off the whites you expect little or no challenge but with tight undulating fairways, dog legs, blind tee shots, small greens, and some well positioned thick natural rough you still have to be playing well to score well. As it happens I played well but still only came away with 35 points from my 18 H/C.
The course is well manicured throughout with decent quality tees and greens and well judged rough i.e. tough and penal closer to the tee's but not too punishing if your drives leaks left or right when well struck.
On a sunny June afternoon it was a surprisingly picturesque course as well with a pleasant mix of natural fauna and flora mixed with a number of small natural waterhazards across its classic links topography. I even liked the site and sound of the miniature steam railway that runs along side some of the front 9 holes
Highly recommended for a visit and at less than £600 a year and no joining fee I think I'd consider moving to the Kent coast.

This is a very challenging links course for even the low handicapper. It is an open qualifying course. What makes it so good is the fact that even in good weather there is a breeze that changes from day to day. It is a thinkers course with lots of cleverly placed bunkers. But it is a beautiful course to play.

This is a short course, but don't be fooled - it's very tight and has punishing rough if you stray off the fairway. It's right on the marsh so there are a few ditches as well. The course was in good condition, but the clubhouse shut at 6pm on a Saturday so there was nowhere to change or get a drink.
