Littlestone Golf Club
St Andrews Road, Littlestone, New Romney, Kent, TN28 8RB United Kingdom
There is a natural difficulty in describing how to play any seaside course owing to the changing winds. You should read the suggestions noted on each of the hole pages and perhaps they will be of some help. Although the club is located on the South Coast the course lies on a North-South Axis. It runs out for 9 holes with the prevailing South West wind at your back.
Many professional and amateur golfers have enjoyed playing this course, among them the great Harry Vardon.Book a Tee Time

Great everyday links course, warm welcome and a bargain membership. If only I lived closer.

Third visit to Littlestone for me and the best yet. Played 36 holes in both sunshine and heavy hail. Despite this the course held up very well and made the day for me hitting 27 putts in the afternoon made possible the very true running greens. Otherwise the course offered up the usual blend of links golf appearing as defenceless when I played flawless golf and then a right pain in the behind when I was wayward. Would love to take up the excellent Weekend Membership deal but I live just too far away.

I'm a big fan of this location (with the adjoining Littlestone Warren) and having played again since my first visit was keen to see what others thought here on Golfshake. Personally I've had no problems with members or the club so felt it needed another review to reset the balance a little. This is a traditional members club and therefore it won't be as flexible as some and at the end of the day you are a visitor so do have fit in a little.
For my first round here I just turned up at 7.30am one morning and despite being told that visitors couldn't usually tee off until later I was allowed to play with little hesitation. On my next visit I warmed up 'next door' and then headed over hoping to play at Littlestone on a Twilight Round after 2pm. Apart from verbally checking on my H/C I was given access and tee'd off within 20 mins. The staff were perfectly friendly and approachable.
I agree with other reviews I've seen elsewhere that this could be described as a beginners links course. Whilst this may be partly true its not without teeth and though some fairways are wider and bunkers not as deep that only really takes away from the visuals. This is still a proper test of golf and has some great holes (most of the par 3's) and then in particular the closing 3 holes back into the wind make for a great finish especially if you are chasing a good score. Also it wouldn't have been chosen as a Open Qualifying Course if it wasn't up to scratch.
My only gripe is that I think its relatively expensive for its status at £65 a round during the week and £80 at weekends. But then again the next best courses of this type in this location are at Deal and Sandwich and yes there are clearly a step up the green fees almost double. The adjoining course is a lot shorter and less refined but a lot more accessible and with small greens is a reasonable test of golf also. And at around £16 a round is a bargain.

Great course. But difficult to find your way around and members made us feel very unwelcome, as they like to play course in 3 hours......
