Greens n good condition, bunkers have some sand albeit inconsistent. Fairways running forever with the very tight lies.

tight tricky course

Enjoyed our first visit, we many interesting holes. Definitely need to play 2/3 times to know length of some of the doglegs. good greens recently sanded and tinned but putted reasonably well. Nice elevation changes but not too long.

Nice sunshine. Long grass

Lost a few balls I did not expect, just off the edge of the fairway, due to long grass.
It is improving as it dries out and they can mow the fairways,

Having played this course recently, my views are based on a winter configuration of holes, as there seems to be multiple nines and holes get dropped out when wet (inch is probably quite a lot).
It's been raining recently but the condition of fairways and rough areas was truly terrible. We lost balls that should have been easily found (landed in first cut) but pretty anything that wasn't daisy cutter height would end up plugged pretty much everywhere but the greens. Everywhere was very very wet and churned up mud areas would of kept a few pigs happy. Whilst some roping off was present it simply couldn't be enough as the mud was everywhere!
The greens played surprisingly well, clearly good construction, but that is not enough to overcome the rest of the course.
Multiple dog leg holes across the course and a few shorter par 4 holes (one is just 231yds!) make it a simpler course, but of course no run at all can make you feel like your slogging around. It's pretty bland with not much in the way of evergreen trees, and I'm sure it looks more like the pictures in the summer months.

Didn't experience much of the facilities and hospitality but was happy enough with the putting green.

It'll be a tough choice to return in the summer though, as I'm just not sure whether I would enjoy to pay for it having had such a bad experience this time around.

Autumn/Winter Golf

Always tough playing parkland courses in England in winter so when I play I'm open minded. I played with a friend who's a member and we got round in 3.5 hours. Yes some areas were a bit mushy but generally the tees and fairways were good. The greens were excellent and you can see that they put a lot of time and effort into those.

Mix of good, poor and disappointing

Once found in the myriad of country lanes around these borders of Hampshire and Surrey, the first impressions of this Crown golf operated were quite good with a tidy car park and modern clubhouse in view. However, the pro shop was locked up (13.00 midweek!) and the pro was only found when venturing into the clubhouse, and he was slightly annoyed to have to come back to the pro shop to take green fee and all that. Attitude was a bit bluff! Notice was made also that half of the clubhouse was shut off and that the bar person was ages in coming over to assist - attired by the way in a very non-catering rugby club top!
The walk to the first tee has to cross back over the entrance road where you will find the 1st, this being tough dog leg first where in truth a 5 would be pleasing. From the 2nd onwards you start to realise that this course is very well endowed with trees and some quite narrow fairways. The 3rd is a delightful par 3 to a green with a sleeper fronted ditch and with a tee lying sentinel either side. Holes 4 to 9 are all fairly nice but standard fare, but from 9 to 10 is a stiff walk and ensure you follow the correct signs, for there are many paths.
On arrival at the 10th tee you then start a section of holes which some would call tough, some would call exhausting, some would call quirky and some would call many other names! You certainly have to be on your best game to play all of them, and can be very exhausting indeed. 10 and 12 both involve blind drives where as a visitor no information is given where to go, (both turn right and then up the mountain!). Attractive holes, but completely unfair to average handicappers, and it is a relief to arrive back down to level ground for the 14th. Here though lies another quirky hole, 90° dog leg right, where only an iron off tee will suffice to get position. From there are in, it is pretty standard fare, although 17 is a very boring par 5, with only an attractive approach stopping the yawns.
All in all, it is a good tree lined parkland course and with a very varied layout, but in truth, the 10th to 14th are too tough and to the writer, unenjoyable. The greens were good, bunkers and tees all OK and the rough was well held back, very useful on a course that relies on visitors. Would I go back, well maybe once to try and play 10 to 14 properly, but overall, it has been a course that "been there done it". To cap it off, after my game, no-body anywhere to serve a well needed drink, and certainly no food being shown as offered, even though noises could be heard in the dark recesses of the kitchen.

Very well kept course

Oak Park is a well kept course with a mix of challenging holes that will challenge players of all skill levels. I would say it's slightly over priced but not a bad course. Some of the paths between holes could do with a little work.

The staff were friendly and the clubhouse was comfortable for a drink after the round. A very enjoyable round of golf and will go back again.

Good Value, but take your walking boots!

Had an afternoon tee time here recently. Had played the Village 9 hole before and managed to get on the woodland course for ?20 for 18 holes. The front 9 is good. Good way to get you warmed up for the back 9 which is totally different. Tight woodland golf on holes 10-14 which is very very hilly and a long 199 yard par three thrown in. Be prepared... its pretty hilly if you are carrying your own bag. The holes also play tough as well with many awkward lies , ball above & and below the feet etc. I also would say driver ins't needed across these holes. Overall i did enjoy this 18 but probably would have liked to have a course guide for the back nine.
