Army Golf Club
Laffans Road, Aldershot, Hampshire, GU11 2HF United Kingdom
The course is situated on 160 acres of low, undulating woodland between Farnborough and Aldershot. It has a par of 71 and features three par three and two par five holes. The par threes, the shortest of which is 168 yards, are a particular challenge for most golfers.
Measuring 6,550 yards from the white tees, our course is one of the longest golf courses in this area although the fairly level terrain means it remains a comfortable walk for most players.Book a Tee Time

The above review is a little harsh, although some points are valid. The course generally is excellent with some tremendous holes and great greens that are generally in very good condition. However, the club has not yet invested in fairway sprinklers which means that a few of the fairways can suffer bare patches in the Summer. Yes, you will get plenty of roll, but you would on a Links course, so the above comment is stupid. My main criticism is the lack of attention to detail with the course, which could easily be rectified. Uneven tees, no towels on ball washers, missing/broken ball washers, no tee bins, messy undefined pathways. The clubhouse whilst not pretty, serves great food and the pro shop is pretty good. All in all, good value. It has the capability to be exceptional, but isn't there yet.

Played the course today and found it delightful. A warm and friendly club to non members with a Golf Course to rival any in Hampshire. Well worth a visit.

Ladies and Gents, this course is a treat, one of the oldest in the country. Next to Farnborough Airport, it is steeped in history. Lush fairways, excellent greens, and it's fair share of hazards. Whilst only 2 Par 5's and 3 Par 3's, it is 6330 off the yellows, and hard work in the wind! The course is fairly flat, and a good walk between some greens. The halfway hut is the quaintest ever. £15 on Teeofftimes, is an absolute bargain, compared to the usual £40. 100% worth a visit. Played recently, and returned 2 weeks later with another golfing buddy to enjoy. First class, and the clubhouse is excellent.

I was also a member for four years during this time the course has definately deteriated and I decided to leave , in the entire time I was a member I saw the greenkeepers once which says it all really , that was playing weekdays and weekends.
The course could be good but there is a serious lack of attention example back of 6th green dug up and instead of relaying Green grass replaced with rough three years later still not using and it has not embedded , fairways are very poor no excuses for not filling in divots Mr Greenkeeper played Farnham and not an unfilled divot in sight ! Five hour rounds at weekends common as is Mixed foursomes where they shut the course once a month , I must have been up there 8-10 times last year at weekends and could not play . Clubhouse friendly but course not worth £1100 in such poor condition . Greens are generally long and rolled people blamed the land and said the greenkeeper was doing a good job , well you cannot change the land and so it will never get better. Course is challenging noisy as well with remote controlled cars on the first to planes landing at Farnborough , could be so much better . If you get it cheap its worth a go but there are far better places on 2 fore 1. I for one will not miss " Winter Rules " all season long.

On reflection the above review by myself is a little harsh and unjust on a few points and needs addressing.
Yes areas of the course would benefit from some attention to detail but in all honesty it is pretty good and the green staff do a great job in maintaining the course
On the whole the greens are very good and during the better months with use of the green iron are excellent and you will struggle to find better. The course does offer a good challenge to all levels of golfer and the green fees are very good value for money.
Pro shop is very well stocked and very friendly.
Nice club house that is better than it looks.
In summary i would recommend anyone play the course as it is very cheap in comparison to other courses in the area and worth the money. I personally find it is at its best in May and jun as its very green and colourful but it is worth playing at any time of the year.

Been a member for 11 years and am now leaving due to a lack of value for money, course maintenance is poor, there is a severe lack of attention to detail. At weekends you will not see a green keeper on the course after 0800hrs. Greens in all fairness are quality but for only 2-3 months of the year at best. Considering the club has relaid a number of greens due to poor drainage this has on the whole been unsucessful, in particular are the 12th and 16th that are very bobbly nd then there is the 9th which is almost unplayable in the summer. top it off the 18th is a two tier green but EVERY approach shot you are playing through the green and unless you are pro standard you have to land your ball short of the green and hop it rolls on. Once on the green if you are on the wrong level 3-4 putts are nor uncommon. If you are a two ball DO NOT play the course unless you do not mind a 5 hour round as the course is very 2 ball unfriendly. The club paid £350000 for fairway drainage 8-10 years ago but there is sign this is failing as even through a fairly dry winter it is boggy.
In the summer you have to watch your ball to a finish even if you smash it straight down the middle as some of the bonces have to been seen to be believed, this is somewhat due to poor fairway coverage and also patchy grass coverage in areas you would expect to be better.
As a one off with a member it is cheap and worth playing in June, July, August and sept only.
