What the club says: Join our Golf Club in South Ockendon, Essex
Standing in 140 glorious acres near the historic Ford Place on the South facing side of the Mardyke Valley, our South Ockendon Essex Golf Club is an exciting 18 hole parkland course. The long undulating fairways and water hazards give rise to some of the most challenging holes in Essex.
This seriously testing golf course was designed ‘by the members’, ‘for the members’.
Initially designed as a 3 hole Golf Academy, it grew into a 9 hole course. The free draining land had a huge potential and was destined to become something more; which it did, by becoming the outstanding 6201 yard, 18 hole par 70 course it is today.
The greens, fairways, paths and trees are all excellently maintained by our Course Manager and his team. Being blessed with exceptional drainage and a state of the art irrigation system, it ensures the best experience as the entire course remains open all year round.
Located in South Ockendon, Essex it’s just near London with only 5 minutes drive from the M25, A13 and the Dartford River Crossing, making it accessible from all directions.
Our Clubhouse with 270 degree views of the golf course, offers a bright, comfortable, relaxing environment in which to enjoy a drink and delicious home cooked food.
The golf shop is open every day and our Pro Matt, is on hand to give any advice or guidance to enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.
Visitors of all levels are welcome, so please give us a call to book your next game of golf on 01708 855011 Or use the BRS Golf App. See our calendar of events.
Mardyke Valley Golf Club is part of the John F Hunt Group.

Good condition, considering the rain
The first few holes get you thinking that it's going to be an easy course, but there are some lovely holes and some challenging ones too. Hole 6 is a tough par 5; hole 7 is a nice little dogleg; 8 is a fabulous hole - go long off the tee and you'll hit the water, but lay up too short and you'll have a long carry over the water. 10 & 18 are long par 4s, and the par 5 14th has a stream right in front of the green. The 15th is great.Reviewer Rating

An Interesting Course
Firstly, this was played in February, so it had been very wet. In line with other local courses, they look to protect the course, by insisting on winter wheels and carrying only when it becomes too wet. There were a mixture of temp tees which were of a good quality and normal tees. The greens were in superb condition for the time of year, as were the bunkers that I visited. The fairways desperately needed a cut, but it had just been too wet, it was difficult to see where the fairway ended and the rough began. We did preferred lies everywhere as the ball was constantly muddy. There are some really tough holes and a few easy ones, but all in all, value for money. It has a nice club house and friendly staff.

Nomads Meeting for our First Mardyke round in 2024
Always friendly and reasonable (although £3 more expensive than last year) a mini Breakfast deal at Mardyke Valley GC on a Tuesday. We used Mardyke many times last year and this was our first round in 2024. Eight of us enjoyed excellent food followed by a course which considering the time of year was brilliant. No temporary anything and fairways that were true and firm. Greens were a credit to the Greenkeepers. A very enjoyable time and we will be back once a month simply because it is that good.Reviewer Rating

Mardyke Valley
Played this course as our course was shut due to winter weather.I must say the course was very well drained, it was playing long due to 2 1/2 club cold wind, it looked more open than it is as all the leaves were off the trees, has some easy and hard holes, the staff were friendly and helpful and the green fee was very good value. The greens were v good for the time of year.
