Hesketh Golf Club

Hesketh Golf ClubEstablished in 1885, The Hesketh is the oldest club in Southport and is regularly chosen for Final Qualifying when The Open arrives across town at Royal Birkdale. Part links and part parkland, the distinctive challenge of the course is that half of the holes meander through tall sand dunes, while the other half border the Ribble estuary. Some of the best holes lie between the sandhills and the clubhouse, particularly the 18th, an impressive, lengthy finishing hole.

Hesketh Golf Club Member rating : 4/5 from 2 reviews. Ranking out of 1662.

Golf course review of Hesketh Golf Club

If you are a Southern Softy and not used to playing links courses, this is hard. Like any course the 2nd time is much better, you know where to try to place the ball. Off the whites it is a long course, but very enjoyable. The walk is easy, but the rough is rough. Overall a very enjoyable course.
