Southport Golf Links
Those who designed Southport's 'Muni,' as it is affectionately known, certainly knew their job. It is indeed flat and looks totally forgiving for the golfer arriving in the calm of a summer's morning. But it is among the best challenges of the region's pay-and-play courses.
One reason is it is virtually on the shore, exposed to the winds. For another, at almost 6,200 yards off the main tees, it is reasonably long for a public course. Also, there are no downhill sloping fairways to hurry the ball along, 'shorten' the holes. This 'muni' is a course that plays its full length - and particularly when the wind comes in strong from the Irish Sea.Contact Information

Played here today. Definitely the best municipal greens I've played on they were better than most private clubs. Well looked after, plenty of interesting tee shots and greens. Well worth the £14. Very enjoyable.

I enjoy this course very much, tough but fair. We visit twice yearly and have been doing so for the last four years, I think that speaks for itself.

The course is very suited ti senior golfers as it is flat, the condition of the greens were magnificent and although I played this course in a 50MPH wind I enjoyed it very much. Our Society didn't use the "WHITE HOUSE CAFE" but used the clubhouse next door where all the food and service was excellent. H.G. 09/10/2011

great links course very windy to be expected dissapointed that there was a few temps in may!!! back nine is superb some great little holes pretty tough too

played today - was sunny and the fairways played long - back nine easier than the front nine and the new hazards make the course a more interesting / prettier walk around .. some long par 4's and the bunker on the 4th has now been grassed over -i do feel they are money grabbers however and ram as many people onto the course as physically possible - had to wait on most shots ... go early to avoid this hassle especially if sunny

The course is having alot of work done on it

lot of work being done on drainage to fairways,tees brought forward so not playing to its full length,but still tough back nine quite long need to play well to post good score

The course is nice wide and straight all the way through. It is just a shame they always try and pack the whole of Southport on there in one day. Took 6 hours to finish.
