Heaton Park Golf Club
The main course at the Golf Centre is a parkland course, boasting spectacular views over the Pennines and surrounding countryside and offers several imposing tee shots. Three lakes in the park, play a prominent part in every round, especially on the 193 yard 11th hole. Being a long par-3 and signature hole to the course, J. H. Taylor designed a challenge for all golfers across a deep water filled ravine, to a raised plateau green. Contact Information

Make sure you have plenty of energy as this course is extremely undulating! Its one of the best municipal courses i've played on recently. Quite challenging and makes you think.

Mostly flat but fast greens, in good condition. Quite a few hits to nothing over markers. Needs some stake markers for distances and a course guide with pics of the holes. Overall an enjoyable round and would play again.

Reasonably short course but tricky hills and OOB. Some good tee positons to hit over ravines and shrubs. Fairways were well kept as were, pretty flat, greens. Blind holes and long walks could have done with a course guide or at least a map though.

Good course, long walks and reasonably scenic, sometimes local traffic and accessibility from the local public park cause nuisances I.e dog walkers, children walking on the course

Well it was my debut on this course and the reports I heard were indifferent! If you are fit and fancy a challenge walking rather than playing this is the place! For a municipal it was very good. The greens were very lush and just needed a cut as they were slow and fluffy. Very much up and down and a test. Would I play it again? probably not though I wouldn't put anyone off if they haven't tried the challenge!

If you are into flat courses with no blind shots then this isn't the place for you.
If, on the other hand, you want to play a spectacular 'natural' layout that's in great nick throughout the summer for bargain prices then this is the place.
The course features some great holes and represents a true test of golf - I'd argue that the SSS on the yellows of 67 is a little harsh given the hilly nature of the course and the abundance of trouble to find!
Highly recommended!
