Nice course and in good condition. Friendly pro and course quiet but clubhouse closed when we got back at 6pm. Would have been nice to pop in for a drink. (Round played: May 2014 - Score: 87 Handicap: 18)

My Society played here a few days ago, we had excellent weather which always makes for a good round. The course is in top condition, the groundsmen deserve a real pat on the back, for a well done job. When we finished our round we enjoyed a game of snooker in the clubhouse, where we were greeted by a friendly chap named Phil who served our drinks. We hadn't ordered any food but knew the kitchen closed around 3pm on weekdays but the Lady who does the food was more than happy to stay back and serve us, we had a wonderful meal that capped a great day out, excellent value for money in our opinion and the hospitality was second to none. Cannot wait to return to this course the next chance we get!!

Gregg, Bury rated 4 out of 5 - Oct 5 2013
Played here today for the first time and I really enjoyed it. Only paid £20 for my round which I think for a Saturday is really reasonable. Not many golfers on today, which is a plus point for me as I play on my own a lot and as a beginner I hate feeling like I have to rush to avoid slow play. The course itself has a lot of water hazards and every hole is different but the green speeds were hard to read but I think that was due to the drainage holes and sand that's been put on there for the Autumn. I really enjoyed the par 3 holes. the pro in the shop was friendly and happy to help and every golfer I passed by was happy to say hello. I'll be playing here again next time i get a chance to play!

Well where do i start ,first off the weather was absolutely awesome, the golf course was in superb condition the greens were in immaculate condition ,the course is well bunkered but its a true test of your ability The hospitality shown by all that work at this clib is second to none the golf pro was a great guy who couldnt do enough for you.The young man upstairs that serves the food was really good at his job as was the steward behind the bar.As for the food i couldnt fault it they even gave us a choice of curry or fish followed by a wonderfull desert. If theres any one out there that is looking to play a differant course i would reccomend pike fold ,its brill once again to everybody at the club A BIG WELL DONE FROM THE RAILWAY TAVERN SOCIETY MANY THANKS

The previous reviews almost lure you in to believing this course is better than it actually is. We paid £20 on teeofftimes for a 2 ball. It was a lovely summer day, which made things better. The course seems very new and has very little maturity about it. Lots of sprouting, young trees and wide open fairways. The course is very "up and down" and there are very few challenges throughout. The fairways and greens are nicely kept, but the greens are very narrow front to back and you can quite often be punished for decent shots. Considering it is advertised as USGA greens, I wasn't hugely impressed. Its a short course and will not suit those of you who enjoy long sweeping holes and invitations to take out 'the big stick' at every opportunity. Overall, a disappointing course having read the reviews. I will not be going back and I wouldn't recommend it to friends for £20.

Although it was quite wet when we went, the course more than made up for it. Quite a few water hazards but generally open and flat. Still a testing course, well worth a visit and will definately return. (Round played: Jan 2012 - Score: 89 Handicap: 21)

Neville S rated 3 out of 5 - Sep 15 2011
Played it after a week's worth of rain had fallen on it, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were few, if any, waterlogged patches on the course. I had expected one or two after previous comments I'd heard. The course is very open and the back 9 is certainly better than the front, but overall there are few memorable holes to make you want to rush back. I liked the 12th hole, which is a dogleg right par 4 where you play your tee shot up a hill to the fairway, and the par 3 16th is quite a nice hole too, but generally the look of the rest of the holes are pretty much similar to each other. That isn't to say that this isn't a course that's worth playing, as the fairways and greens were all in very good condition. I didn't really use the clubhouse and so can't really comment on that.
