Grassmoor Golf Centre
This well-established course follows a traditional and gentle parkland layout which is challenging, whilst not putting the golfer off the course. With its many hazards such as its water features, placement of shot is all important to reach the excellent putting surfacesContact Information

Grassmoor course is an 18 hole course, undulating and with wide fairways and easy rough. Unfortunately it is built on a former industrial site and there is still work going on to dump tons of waste material which is being shaped into hills etc. This detracts considerably from the enjoyment of the game. The greens are of a various quality, some are good. There is also a couple of temporary greens which are poor. A good course for a beginner as ir is easy to play.

i played in the 2010 open
overall i thought the course was in a good condition again though the building/renovation work lets it down slightly
quite a few areas with free drops because of stones/rocks
fairways were in a good condition
greens were superb with good pace and they ran true
driving range was ok
pro shop is small with limited stock but that is understandable for the size
the clubhouse was very clean and staff were very welcomingThe Course

Still got some renovation work on 5 or 6 of the first 9 holes and when thats finished the course will be great, but for £9 it's well worth it.

At £9 a round (winter rate) this course represents excellent value for money. We got our 4 ball round in 3.5 hours and we weren't rushing too quickly.
The course is not the most challenging, but presents a nice variety of holes. The staff in the clubhouse were very friendly and willing to help. The Course

potentialy the course could be great for beginners once the building work is complete that it as at present some of the holes look like the moon. great value though- £9 pound for the full round.

Could be a very nice course however having half of it still under construction ruined the atmosphere and the overall feel. I think it would be helpful if the staff asked when you book a round if you have been before and whether you are aware of the disruption.

I really liked this course.
Wasn't sure what to expect having read the previous reviews but was very pleasantly surprised. Very well laid out and, to the novice's eye at any rate, well looked after. Yes, the greens may be tight, but the fairways are wide and forgiving. Add to that, a very friendly welcome from the young lady in the Pro shop/office and I can highly recommend this course to anyone driving by J 29, M1 with their clubs in the car and 3/4 hours to spare.

Played here a couple of times and agree that the greens are tight, short course with only one par 5 but some good par 4's. Good course for beginners like myself and finally shot below 90 (88) which is promising for the 11th time out. The fairways and greens where well kept although 2 winter greens where in use which where hit or miss with the putting. Well worth a go and good value for money

Course is very tight with very small greens. Greens weren't in the best condition and had been forked making putting impossible.
Course is a little hilly but as its only short, not too gruellingThe Course

A strange mixture of a course, tightly packed in to quite a small area, but interesting. A decent test of your short game, only needing to resort to fairway woods or longer irons after a duff tee shot or wayward drive. Only one par 5 (sub 500yd) but some good par 3's. Not the most picturesque course around with views over the scrapyard, burnt out barns and scabby housing estate and not enhanced by what looks like major redevelopment work. Greens had just been heavily spiked (read tramlines) so couldn't say how they would play when in good condition, but they are mostly small and undulating and looked like they could be reasonably fast.
Cheap, cheerful but a bit tatty. Worth a go.The Course
