Tapton Park Golf Club
Tapton Golf Course is situated on the outskirts of Chesterfield Derbyshire, it is the only municipal parkland golf course in the area boasting a full 18 hole demanding golf course, a testing 9 hole golf course and an 18 hole chip and putt challenge.

The Course was fine, other than usual winter green condition with fertiliser. Speed of play of some ahead/golf etiquette was poor and meant we ended up playing in the dark for last 3 holes.

played Tapton for the first time Monday 12th September 2011. Great course with some real gems of holes. Wind gusting at about 30 MPH in some places. The long Par 5, 600+ yrds into the wind was definately an experience.
Great course, shop staff a little unhelpful, great price. Will play again.

Great course, eases you in gently with a couple of reachable par 4's but then bears its teeth on 4 and 5. Back 9 a very different proposition.

Played Tapton Park for the first time last night during a rare break in this years July rain. What a cracking course! The work on the greens that previous reviews mentioned has really paid off, very receptive, true running and pretty fast given the conditions - but don't expect any easy putts because they are cunningly contoured. The course itself is a mixture of traditional parkland and heathland type holes, some massive par 3's and short, tricky par 4's. Not easy to plot your way round for the first time so playing with someone with a bit of course knowledge is helpful. Try and score well on the first 3 holes, they lull you into a false sense of security!

Tough course, due to the challenging terrain, looked beautiful in the bright sunlight however due to the mountain climb round the course and the strong wind across the fairway's scoring was effected.
I would recomend it to any one who wants a challenge in a lovely environment. Please try it.
Faiways where good a bit boggy in places
Greens need work and quite poor to read due to some being fast and the next being slow even though they all looked evenly rassed
Stunning views
Watch out for the 5th hole, Par 5 measuring over 600yds with a steep down hill gradient

Played tapton today 3/05/2010, this used to be my favorite course the greens have been absolutely butchred. I cant beleave what they have done i seriously think they need new green keepers. This course is not being looked after at all and it has so much potencial. The council are not checking greenkeepers work the air holes in the greens are about an inch across and 3" deep. DISSAPOINTED VERY

This course is a municipal,so hence gets plenty of use and abuse.
It is set in mature parkland,and is very hilly,so if you are used to playing on a flat course,be warned,you will finish tired.Flat lies are rare.
Greens are usually in good condition,but bunkers sometimes lack much filling,and early in the season fairways can be muddy.
The clubhouse lacks a lot,but the staff are friendly.
A tricky course,but is fantastic value for money.
