Challenging classic heath/parkland
Played here in the Silver Frigate over two rounds. A challenging course if you don't know it with quite a few blind shots ad shots that need to be hit specific distances to avoid trouble. Lots of slopes on the greens, which were pretty fast but not so firm that they wouldn't hold well-struck approaches. A real varierty of par 4 and 5 holes but the one criticism of the layout is that three of the par 3 holes play to very similar lengths. Conditioning is great, bunkers are lovely. Greens became a little bit bobbly later in the day but well worth playing. But don't expect to play your best first time out.Reviewer Rating

Relaxed and enjoyable day
This was a society day and we were welcomed by the clubhouse staff with Tea and Coffee ready n the bar before moving into the eating area for a Full English breakfast. For the time of year the course was in very good condition especially the greens. The bunkers are china clay so they can get a little compacted this time of year so that wasn't unexpected.
There is some work going on with large water areas built that will come into play on 14th and 17th holes which meant there were some GUR areas and a temporary green on 14.
A lovely course that offers up birdies but you need to plot your way around to avoid dropping shots to par.

Great setting and challenging course
Second visit so should have been easier this time but it hammered down with rain but this only really affected the course towards the end of our round when a couple of the approaches were waterlogged.Had a great breakfast before the round and a nice pint after service was excellent.

Wolf in sheep’s clothing
A good test of golf for any level of handicap. Although a little short by today’s obsession for length, one needs good course management to produce a reasonable score. A different course from the white tees will make you concentrate on every shot.Reviewer Rating
