Well maintained course, good greens, a challenge but not too hard if you are just starting to play.

Greens very difficult to read - the most 3 putts I've had in a long time. Layout is very good and in my opinion the best of the Durham courses.

Played here (for first time) yesterday afternoon - Friday 14th September 2007.
The course set up is really great. The natural lie of the land and very mature tree lined holes make for a great experience & a bit of a test to say the least.
The biggest part of "the test" undoubtedly comes from the greens - which depsite being generous in size - must be some of the hardest to read in the North East!
This coupled with a greenkeeper with a savage sense of humour as far as pin plaements are concerned made for some entertainment! (The par 3 second was an obvious example)

About the only thing the place can be faulted for is the lack of a course guide / strokesaver, as for the first timer, a lot of the tees play blind.

With green fee's of only £12 yesterday with the use of a 2-Fore!-1 voucher makes this extremely good value for money.

Well worth the visit.
I'll definately be arranging a return trip.
