I enjoy the course, but I wasn't very impressed that they were spraying the fairways as we were playing. I went home with a sore throat. I'm sure that this is not healthy!!!!!

Noce course poorly maintained

Lovely course in a nice setting BUT very poorly maintained. The prestige of this course is gone unfortunately.

Avoid.

As others have said, this course is on borrowed time. Such a shame as it is a great track.

Bunkers are unplayable and the rough has not been cut for weeks. Greens were ok but pretty slow.

Poor conditions

Quite disappointed with course condition. Driving range closed, bunkers all GUR, and greens in shockingly bad conditions. At £32.50 for a round I would expect a lot more. Pro shop were accommodating and provided a discounted lunch, but golf ruined really.
Having said that a great layout and very difficult. Narrow fairways with big rough and lost balls not far from fairway edges, 10 holes with water hazards. If you're game is not in good condition don't play here as you will lose a bag or two of balls. Worth try though to test yourself if playing OK.

Bit of a mess

Not great!!

Played here 2 months ago & all was good but today the greens were really bad very patchy & looked like they needed a good cut. Tees were also bad and scruffy!! I have never seen such bad bunkers hardly any sand & weeds growing. Used to really like this course but has gone downhill badly!!

Very disappointing food for breakfast and small dinner for a well paying society group. Service was 'shy' and without any real courtesy or conversation. Course was good but would not return there.

Very tried course

Best description of this course was that it used to be good. It now looks very tired. I know we are coming out of lockdown, but most of the the fairways were flatter than the tees boxes, which were in a dreadful state. Greens were mixed and some of the approaches to greens were very bar. Just a bit disappointing for what was once a Championship course.

Good but Bad

First time playing this course on a lovely Sunday Autumn afternoon.I didn't know it in its hey day so this is based on how i found it today.First the good. Staff in the shop are excellent, polite and helpful and great value at £18 for Sunday afternoon (online). The layout of the course is also very good with a great mix of holes winding its way around the housing estate, although not your average estate, think Southfork (ask your parents) meets Cheshire housewives! Most with nice Glass extensions so keep the ball straight!!! Lots of water which was also good. Fairways are ok
and the rough not to long either, but the greens are terrible. Pitch marks all over the place, the grass was too long and they played sooo slow, they are just rough. The greens spoilt was should/could have been a nice afternoon. The fabled 18th is a nice finish to the island green but the whole course could just do with a good shake up and sort out those bumpy, lumpy, slow greens. Delapre down the road has better greens than some of these!! Could be great but just a very average pay and play venue i'm afraid. Won't be returning any time soon.

I've been wanting to play this course for years, so was looking forward to this game. I was disappointed!
I admit I played poorly, which doesn't help, however, despite a great layout with lots of water & some holes which made you think a bit, the experience was disappointing.
I thought the condition of the course was poor. Awful bunkers, scruffy tee boxes, slow patchy greens & the need of a general tidy up. The course makes a lot of the fact the British Masters was played there, I would say it's a long way from experience.

Bit disappointed today, i have not played here for a while and its gone down hill fast. Greens were very slow and not rolling very well. The bunkers were absolutely shocking, many had weeds or bits of grass in. Still a nice course with some great holes but the condition today was awful for a course i used to class as one of the best in the area
