Ok a nice setting!
Urm...am i still in 1905? seems like the club is, it is like old technology its boring! short flat uninteresting if you are over 85 i suppose it is a test..the attitude is pathetic! grumpy old men..ok i am only 35 but still.
i heard alot of mixed feedback on the course but was looking for course in the area as had a long golfing weekend at stoke by nayland it was more modern friendly and interesting, aslo played lexden wood and five lakes these 3 are recomended!
braiaswick on the other hand-rude members, nice golf pro, very average course, Extremely overpriced to say the least! think to play elswehere!

Bit dissapointted TBF.very flat & open. Plenty of bunkers & well placed trees but not the Braid I was expecting. Just thought it would be more interesting. Ground probably needs more recovery time but cant fault the welcome. Glad we played it tho

Don't forget your Driver

Deceptively long course, if you don't hit long then second shots into the green are 180+. Not a bad thing as it tests your driving. Greens very well paced, ball rolls lovely. Fairways patchy but thats the same everywhere this time of year. Bunkers could do with some work. A number of holes you have to drive over the previous green, can hold up play.
We played twilight and the members refused to let a two ball through at any stage, sometimes we were on the tee with a four ball. Some work to be done here.
Staff very friendly, particularly the pro shop assistant. Bellisima.

Average

The Colchester golf course was not as well looked after as I thought it would be but still a quality course. We had to play off lots of temporary tees which is always disappointing but nobody?s fault I guess. The weather hasn't been too bad up till now though.

nice golf course. The staff were friendly on arrival. was on a society day and it was well organised. The course was a nice layout and the fairways were cut nicely. The greens were fast and true. A nice test of golf. Need your putting A game to score well. a good day out.

Played the course on Saturday 12 May 2012 with a member. Quite a friendly club. The grass had been left quite long in all areas, probably because of the heather rain over the past couple of weeks. Still playing in quite good condition. Interesting holes which, although they are quite close together, all seem separate. Lots of mature trees and different features on most holes. Well worth playing again.

Me (H 15) and my wife (H 29) played Colchester on 5th June. Pro was very friendly and club facilities are OK. Greens were a bit lush and slow in places, and quicker in others so a bit frustrating. Otherwise the course is in very good condition and a fair challenge - if a little short. The Par3's though are a good test.
We played on a 2-4-1 voucher so ended up as £21 per person which is good value. Would not have been good value at £42 per round each!

Very nice

Course is still recovering from this years drenching. Fairways were a bit fluffy, rough was very tough to get out of. All excusable. Greens rolled ok but some had recently been tined so a bit bumpy. BUT, this is a quality layout, and I'm sure will be in great nick again soon.
Some very long par 4's given the conditions. Only one of our group of 38 made handicap! (And we're not hackers by any means.)
