What the club says: An easy walking par 72 course of 6,187 yards, Aldwark Manor is set in 120 acres of pleasant Vale of York parkland. Despite a fairly gentle opening, the course toughens up as you warm up with every hole being bordered by oak and beech trees. The major hazard though is the River Ure which meanders through the layout and comes into play on at least six holes. The signature hole, is the 18th hole.

First time here today and what a good experience. Teed off at 11 am and course very quite.Had all weather conditions, sun rain wind hailstones but did not detract from a great round for a four ball. Fairways and greens in great condition. will definitely go again. Bar not open when we finished which was a shame!!

Course is a not as bad as you fear by some reviews; it might be short, but it punishes poor play. It is a thinking golfers course, as you can hit anything from an 8 iron to a driver off the tee (on par 4\'s). I enjoyed my two rounds as part of a sunday driver deal (excellent value for money), and would return. Some of the course could have been better; some greens needed more looking after, and some flood damaged fairways. Overall a nice, challenging round.

In superb condition today - the sun was shining and although the greens were two-paced at times the course played really well.

Played here on Sunday 4th November 2012. 4-ball for £10 each. Tee'd off at 12noon. There had been a very light frost over night, but by the time we tee'd off the frost had completely gone, so we were a little (very) dissappointed that temp. greens were still in play. So annoying, because the greens looked to be in perfect condition. Some holes played off temp. tees as well. I think this would be a fairly nice course on a good day. It has some fairly tricky holes, with a good mix of long and short par 4's. I will try to play here again, but only in the summer months, during a spell of good weather.

The course was in good condition, however I did not enjoy the narrow fairways and at points holes crossing.

Course very wet when played but still very good, staff excellent and attentive and food was exceptional, highly recommended

Visitor Information

Visitors: Commissioned in 1865 for Lord Walsingham as a wedding present for his eldest daughter, Aldwark Manor is set in picturesque parkland grounds close to the historic city of York. Each room is individually decorated and the hotel has comfortable bars as well as the superb Brasserie Restaurant. The Terrace Bar is also available for less formal dining. There is a range of top class leisure facilities including a heated indoor swimming pool, spa pool, state-of-the-art gym, fun and drench showers plus health and beauty treatments. A point of interest is that the hotel was used by the RAF Wing Commander Guy Gibson during the Second World War to plan the legendary Dam Busters raid and there is some interesting memorabilia from the period on display.
