I played for free as my partner was gifted a Voucher but, even so, we both felt seriously ripped off. We were tempted to walk off after 9 as by that time we had seen all the course had to offer as it is just a double circuit of 9 holes.
The course is undergoing development - there is a a temporary road right across the middle of it with heavy plant passing through every couple of minutes. There are only 9 'greens'. Only three holes were complete with a proper tee, green and fairway without lorries crossing it. The first green still had the witness from where the turf had been laid - 3 others were temporary greens. One fairway had large bare areas where turf had been lifted. There are supposedly 2 tees for each green making it an 18 hole course. Most were immediately adjacent to each other and some were just the same mat. It is just dishonest marketing this as an 18 hole course
Signage is appaling. No map on the card. No flag numbering. I expected, as a minimum, two holes on each green as they claimed 18 holes - no chance.
I would say that the three holes that were complete were of a good standard. If the remainder of development is to the same standard then it will be worth a visit...but at present it is a disgrace that it is open and they are expecting people to pay for this. Little wonder they are marketing via Groupon.
I would suggest avoiding this place until it is finished.

This is a 9 hole loop that you play twice off different tees. It is part of the Hampshire CC Rose Bowl complex. It is currently being developed into an 18 hole course (along with resort hotel etc, etc) and there is a fair amount of disruption from passing lorries at present. However, the course itself is in great nick - lush manicured fairways and great undulating putting surfaces - good bunkers as well. It is relatively short but far from easy (my first visit). The 4/13th is one of the most scenic holes in the area - a sweeping uphill par4 where anything short of the green runs right back down the fairway almost to your feet! I enjoyed the course much more than I expected and would recommend it to others although please don't expect too much of the the "clubhouse" and practice facilities until the upgrade is complete (another 4 years away apparently!).

Underrated course. Fairways in very good nick last week. What it lacks in length it makes up for in contours, subtlety and tough greens. View from the white tees on the 14th is one of the best anywhere.
Will be interesting to see how the redevelopments pan-out

Nine hole golf course with two tees per hole, so can be repetitive. Just about to undergo major alterations, pending planning permission, to create a further nine holes.

05/06/2007.
Having not played at my home club for 6 weeks, it was great to be back. The whole course is in excellent condition, the fairways are better than some other club's greens, and when I birdied, SI one, 192 yds, then my day was complete, even though I still didn't break 100.

The Rose bowl as we speak is a double nine hole course with different tees for 18 holes( basically next to the other one) the fairways are mostly open and cut very well.
The greens are a challenge in its self , very undulating and not many at all just flat ones, so this will try anybodies putting game.
The course is undergoing some major work at this present time to make it into a Championship 18 hole course with loads of water build into it.they are totally redesigning the course, so hopefully it will be up there with the rest off them. i have heard it will take 12-18 months.
Clubhouse and staff are great & and welcoming other members.
hope this helps

I am biased, this is my club, the work is starting to upgrade the course to an eighteen, and I cannot wait to see the end result. Sharing groundstaff with the Rose Bowl cricket means the whole course is absolutely superb. This course will test your abilities at any handicap. The drag up the 4th and 6th fairways will help your fitness levels and the 16th will test your judgement. The staff are all brilliant, friendly, helpful, fun, the catering is o.k. no fault of the staff but a new 19th hole will be good. Watch out for deer, buzzards, kestrels, green woodpeckers, considering the course is enclosed by the M27 and main roads the wildlife is amazing.
Visit soon and then come back when it's an eighteen.
