What the club says: The course at Stoneham is laid out over a beautiful undulating landscape which is a combination of heathland and parkland. Of the long par- 4s the 4th is exhilarating, driving out over heather before plunging steeply downhill. A stream crossing 100 yards short of the green should not be of concern to most golfers. The 11th involves a sizeable carry over a cross-bunker from the tee followed by an uncompromising approach over a deep gully to a green perched on a ledge on the far side.

Can't wait to go back

Definately the best course I've played this year.
OK the number of Par3 and 5's is a bit different but the course layout and condition is quality. Not a course you would play for the first time without someone who knows the layout as there are some elevation and side slopes that you have to know the best line and when to layup.

I really enjoyed it even though I didn;t play my best.

If you are not on your A game you are in for a tough time!

What can you say about this course. From the welcome in the pro shop and the clubhouse, to coming off the 18th green it is probably all you could want from a classic heathland golf course.
BUT! Wayward off the tee or stray off line then you are punished severely. The bunkers are fair but tough. The greens are little green swathes of hollows, subtle borrows and a speed that tests your putting skill.
This is not a course for the high handicapper!
There is a reason why to be considered to be a member you have to play off 18 (male).
One of the best courses I have played ever in the UK and abroard. Yes!
Would I play it again. Sadly I am not sure my golf is up to the challenge these days!

A fantastic venue with such fantastic facilities. The course is challenging but fair, and even in late winter a joy to play. One of my most favourite venues.

Great discounts

This is a top Hampshire course where visitors are extremely welcome and heavily discounted green fees can be purchased online even at the weekends. Also don’t worry about needing a handicap certificate. All visitors are very welcome.

Can be a bit soggy in the winter but the rest of the year it’s a cracking track with well drained fairways and the greens are generally outstanding and well drained all year around these days. Each hole is different as you go up and down the rolling fairways which give lots of excitement and character to the course with its new modern bunkering. Lots of trees too and an increasing amount of heather. Not overly long but you need to be accurate to score well here. As it’s so popular expect your round to take well over 4 hours as it gets busy and the course is not marshallled but take your time and savour this lovely mix of parkland and heathland course.
