I was very disapointed having been told the course had improved .where to start ? you could not tell the difference between the fairways and the rough, greens had improved slightly but were covered in pitchmarks ,bunkers poor not raked mainly because there were no rakes lastly my wife went to tee off on the 1st hole but couldn't because there was 8ft bull rushes right in front of the tee ,could be a nice course but seem to only want to spend money on the new buildings and not on the course.

"fairways" if they can be called that have grass longer than the rough, point in case the 15th hole 5 par. Charging £25 for that is pathetic as the bare minimum I would expect is to have this thing called a lawnmower to cut it down. They can lend my Ryobi if needs be or I can direct them to home base to get one !

Safe to say if I was a member here I would not be happy paying subs here.

This course in no way should be marketed as golf course.
The greens are no better than most peoples back gardens.
I wish any person who is playing this farmers field, the very best of luck.

Terrible Terrible greens some that wouldn't even make the grade at a poor municipal. They were absolutely rock hard in parts it was practically impossible to stop the ball. They looked like they had not been cut in an age let alone tended by a green keeper. Turnip patches for fairways and the less said about the tee's the better as this just seems like a bad rant now, I wont even go into the pace of play.

Real real shame as this course used to be excellent when I played consistently at the venue a few years ago. Instead of doing all that building round the club house how about spend some cash on the actual course.

The potential is there as there are some cracking holes but I will not be returning until its sorted; I understand all courses cant be royal birkdale in quality but at least make it look like you tried.

The greens were in bad condition, Had no grass on them and were rock hard, Fairways badly maintained, very patchy, Tee boxes are just a disgrace really, The 1st tee was under water and the rest were just shocking, £15 A round is not good value when you can play local municipals that are in better condition and are also cheaper, Do not be convinced into playing there, It will be the most painful experience of your life, I will not be coming back.

Played this course at the weekend and have to say that i was disappointed greens were not to good at all, tees were all so far forward the course was playing some 300 + yards shorter.
Played this course 2-3 years ago and it seems to be going backwards it was in better condition then

The good: Interesting layout. some good holes, some bizarre holes.

The Bad: The entire course is in terrible condition throughout. greens are dry and crusty, and still somehow pretty slow. Tees are uneven and don't have lot of grass in places. Fairways were also pretty furry. The walking distance between some holes was also incredibly long.

Clubhouse looks like it's under repair. The bar, cafe, gamesroom, proshop, office is all cramped into one room. Stood around before the round not knowing where to go or who to see. Some guy who looked like the Club manager was on his mobile the whole time, didn't acknowledge anybody or try to help. The only other staff member there was a young girl(very friendly), who seemed to be flipping burgers and taking green fees at the same time. There was only one toilet in the men's room and it wouldn't flush.

Not a great experience. They should be charging a third of the price for green fees until it's a fully functioning golf club.

If you enjoy playing out of bunches of clover on the fairways then you may enjoy this course.i understand it's a relatively new course, but there is no reason why they can,t cut the already very poor condition fairways. It was a real shame because the course has great potential and the greens we're spot on, but to have old moorland as fairways going straight into deep rough has put me off going again for a very long time,if again.i probably would not have been so disgruntled if the price reflected the condition, but sadly £78 for a 4 ball was over the top.stay well clear untill they buy some grass and a mower!

A New course and it shows, the green were shocking !!
A good layout that can only get better with age, tight narrow fairways and penal rough, make sure your straight or carrying loads of balls !
Even at the deal of £25 each there are better municipal courses local to St Helens that are in much better condition, make sure any fillings in your teeth are secure as the cart paths are very very bumpy, difficult to walk on, and shake your bag around so again make sure everything is secure, keep a look out for rutts on the paths and beter still in the rough, or you could end up with a broken leg !!

Go in Summer

In two minds with this review. I would say if you are not someone who plays all year and wants a knock in the summer give it a go. It’s good value for money. If you are looking for a winter venue or want to play all year round I would say cross this one off your list. It is a course that will be on temporary greens when all others are on a full course. I have played it in beautiful winter sunshine, with no mud and shirt sleeves and it has been on 17/18 winter greens. Better options in the area for all year golf which is a shame.
