I had a 4 ball booked for bank holiday Monday as a friend was making his yearly visit to Durham from his home in Cambridge. When he visits we usually play at my local course which is Mt Oswalds in Durham and over the years this has become a customary thing. I have recently played Sharperly & liked it so suggested that we change venues and play there instead. I booked the T off time weeks in advance with no problem and 24 hours before we were due to play I rang up again to confirm and also to check that the course had a set of left handed clubs for hire for our visiting friend. I was told that this was no problem and the clubs would be waiting for us upon our arrival.
We duly arrived the next day and on going to the club house we were told that the staff had "lost" the hire clubs and could not find them. The two members of staff were full of apologies & we waited while they tried to find the clubs. Some time later there were still no clubs. By this time we were concerned that our T time would be completely lost and our friend was growing increasingly frustrated.
To cut a long story short, the clubs could not be found, our friend ended up having to leave the course without playing and the three of us T'd off 15 minutes late.
We had been looking forward to playing as a 4 ball & this left us bitterly disappointed. The most forgiving word I can give the course is Amateurish. If there was any problem with the hire clubs, they had my number, they should have contacted me, then we would have had time to try & book elsewhere.
To exacerbate matters further, when I returned home I emailed the course to inform them of my dissatisfaction, I did receive a reply but it was very non descript and really seemed like they weren't particularly bothered. I am yet to receive a reply from my further email, I think this says it all..
This is a young course which has some real interesting holes & features. Because of this shocking customer service however I shall not be returning, nor shall I be recommending it to any of my associates.
