Perfectly complementing the Faldo Course, whilst taking advantage of the rich valley soil in contrast to the arid hillside, Christy O'Connor Jnr's course at Amendoeira offers no less of a challenge. Large areas of water demand accurate play and creative shot making, and these lakes and streams are to be maintained as a wildlife sanctuary.

Enjoyed this course, pretty open generous fairways but with plenty of water on many of the holes to make you think. Course was in good condition, fairways manicured lovely, greens good but slow and tee boxes a little battered but what you expect from the amount of traffic the course has. My only gripe was the practice green, as this was far quicker than the actual greens we played,it was as if they had cut that earlier in the day and forgot to cut the other 18!
The clubhouse is definitely worth staying for a beer after as it has magnificent views over both courses.
I would like to come back to play the Faldo but would be looking for a deal, we paid 87 euros for a twilight round and even thought that was pretty pricey compared to others around the algarve

Simply stunning. Course is filled with water as a pose to the Faldo which is more sand. But as with courses in the Oceanico group Perfect tee boxes. Lush fairways and pure true greens.

Didn't play so good today. Very long course, even off the yellows. Some holes a bit samey - shaping to the left to water. back 9 very tough into the wind all the way

Very nice course with excellent facilities. Although expensive, the luxurious facilities feel wonderfully unfussy (an extremely pleasant change compared to some Algarve courses where you are viewed with disdain or as a piece of meat).
The course is quite long and fairly hard with large amounts of water. The rough was very short, so any wayward shots tended to find a hazard. The condition of the bunkers was a little questionable, but the fairways and greens were in superb condition. Indeed, the fairways were better than some greens I've played in Portugal.
Our group was fairly evenly split between a preference for the Faldo or O'Connor course. Both are excellent and recommended.

Very nice course but a bit expensive. Much more enjoyable than the Faldo course which is very difficult for a 16 handicapper.

This is a fantastic course and I had a great day, except for an incident with a stupid Dutch player in front. We were told that play was too slow, so I was teeing off when I considered the players in front were out of range of my drive.
He objected to me taking my tee shot before he took his 2nd shot, even though he was well ahead of where my ball landed, because he was playing off the blue tees. On the 14th hole he walked back 20 metres and hit my ball away.
I caught up with him on 17th and had a right go at him.
He answered "In my country you don't take your tee shot until the player in front has taken their second shot". I told him to go back to Amsterdam!

Played in September this year the course on the whole was fantastic, but the bunkers were very disappointing, hard unraked sand meant playing a decent bunker shot was impossible.

Second visit to the course for our Society in three years and equally as in impressed as our first visit. Course immaculate from tee to green and none of your differential green speeds and sand in bunker variations that you get with your 'take your money' courses. The facilities are second to none and the welcome equally as impressive! It is expensive to play but there are some fantastic deals to be had too; we paid 65€ for golf with buggy but had to tee off after 12....no harm there. Worth a visit with a view from the clubhouse terrace unrivalled thus far anywhere on the Algarve.

The O Connor benefits from wide fairways and generous greens which, depending on pin positions, can be tricky. Laid out over fairly flat terrain, it requires good distance judgement and with so many greens raised, consider playing one more club than you might ordinarlily expect. I made the decision to play one iron more than my normal judgement from the 7th onwards and came in just 2 over for the 12 holes to the 18th. Playing off 12 that was very satisfying having had very makeable birdie puts on 6 of those 12.

Great weather, can get a bit windy, encouraging course on a new complex that lacks the soul of some of the older courses but the quality can not be questioned. Won't be to everyone's taste but well worth playing. I want to go back.
