Pinheiros Altos Golf Club
Pinheiros Altos was originally designed by the American Ronald Fream and borders the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, which provides a habitat for many species of birds and vegetation. Peter McEvoy and Howard Swan later redeveloped it into a highly original and distinctive course, with two sets of nine holes that possess completely opposing characteristics. Pinheiros Altos provides a real golfing challenge, where brain is infinitely more useful that brawn. The first nine winds its way over and through pine-clad, rolling countryside. The second nine drops down into a valley bottom, where intrusive lakes provide a test of accuracy and skill. Contact Information

Now has 3 sets of 9 holes - a good course for high handicappers as fairly forgiving if wayway - some of the holes can get a bit boggy but the worst candidate is a par 3 so you shouldn't be anywhere except on the green anyway
which is fine.
Nice island green to play nearest the pin - played with 6 people of which only two of us (the highest handicappers I might add) made it onto the green!
Greens are good - overall a pleasant course - would revisit.The Course

The new holes are looking great. The par 5 4th on Pines invites a long drive. Had an eagle putt, only to 3 putt!

A gem in my opinion.
Three loops of 9 winding though the trees. Comparitively cheap for the area with good facilites and friendly staff.
Challenging holes in nice surroundings. When we were there a prize hole was on offer with a 120 yard carry over water. Not for the faint hearted but an interesting challenge.

This course is one of my favourites here on The Algarve.
It is a testing course which is always maintained in immaculate condition. Beware loads and loads of water on the back nine.

Beautiful course - front 9 over the lakes
Back 9 in the pines.
