Parque da Floresta

From the opening par 4 that curves gracefully towards the early morning sun, to the majestic par 4 eighteenth set in a natural amphitheatre below the Clubhouse terrace, this course has already become famous for having some classic golf holes. The "Postage Stamp" par 3 fifth of just 113 metres to the smallest of bunker-surrounded greens makes an accurate tee shot essential. The par 5 ninth ranks among the toughest stroke-index 1 holes ever designed. The picturesque, short par 3 eleventh - guarded on two sides by water - is one of the most inviting holes you could wish to play and is followed by a par 5 that leads up the "Valley of the Wells" to another elevated green.

Notes:
Considered one of the most spectacular courses in the Algarve, Parque da Floresta offers every level of golfer a true challenge of skill and stamina. As the course meanders through the undulating countryside it offers fantastic views of the surrounding villages and the Atlantic Ocean. Pepe Gancedo, one of Spain's most renowned architects, was the man who built it and his philosophy behind the design involved minimal alteration to the existing terrain. With no two holes remotely similar, the variety and appeal of this unique course is endless, and one round will not be sufficient to appreciate its imaginative design. In recent years there has been a considerable investment put into the course including the addition of a golf academy and the redesign of several holes. The layout incorporates plenty of water, open fairways and challenging bunker-surrounded greens ensuring that an accurate tee shot is required at several holes. Finishing the eighteenth, set its own natural amphitheatre, concludes a course that will not be forgotten in a hurry.

A course built around a natural valley this is both challenging and pretty. The par 3s are somewhat samey but there's some really good par 5s and interesting par 4s. Greens were excellent. They also do a buffet all-you-can-eat breakfast for €8 which is good value and lunch afterwards was also nice sitting outside overlooking the 18th green.
