Benamor Golf
Quinta de Benarmor, Conceiçâo, Faro, 8800-067 Conceiçâo de Tavira Portugal
This was the first course to open on the Eastern Algarve. Designed by Sir Henry Cotton he decided to make the old church the clubhouse, which sits proudly in the middle of the complex. The course offers some fantastic sights with the mountains of Barrocal to the North and the Atlantic Ocean to the South. The course isn't particularly long at just over 6,000 yards but it plays like a rhythmic beat. Both sets of nine start and end in view of the clubhouse and each nine get tougher as you go along. Scattered with olive, carob, fig and cork trees, a walk around this course is like a walk through the glory of nature.Book a Tee Time

For the area it does present reasonable value for money. Played several times over the last few years and the course never fails to be presented in excellent conditions despite the heat and parched nature of the surrounding area. Lots of english speaking staff make communication easy, a pleasure to play.

When we played (April 2011) the greens were in very poor condition.

Beautiful course in superb condition. Well watered greens. Friendly staff. The only downside is the cost.

Having a special corporate membership deal here, I play this course regularly and it has improved in leaps and bounds over the last two years. It's very forgiving for rookies and great fun to play with fantastic views over the surrounding Tavira countryside.

This is quite a short course playing off the yellows, but very well manicured with great greens. Does wonders for the confidence, however off the whites it is a totally different course and challenging. Very comfortable clubhouse with excellent service and great food.

A great course for beginners and middle H/C players. The course is short and great for your ego and or confidence, if your game is a little off colour.

This course is endorsing its growing reputation for its player enjoyment and with the recent improvement of the access from the "Via de Infante" to Tavira this makes the whole area much quicker to reach. The course is laid out on mainly undulating land the course offers pleasant views both to the Atlantic Ocean and the hills of the Serra do Caldeirão. Players accuracy is particularly called upon by the architects retention of as many of the old trees as feasible. These natural obstacles coupled with strategic placed bunkers and occasional water hazards make the course a worthwhile challenge.

The decision to build a golf course on the land of the Quinta de Benamor was made in 1986. The landowner invited the late Sir Henry Cotton to design the concept for the 18-hole course. Sir Henry was inspired by the ancient church next to the site of the clubhouse and the spectacular location of the entire site.
The result is a fantastic par 71 course of 5500 metres which offers a challenge to players of all standards. The course is undulating, but not overly hilly and has stunning views to the north and south to the mountains and the Atlantic.
Indigenous olive, cork, carob, fig and almond trees, many of them centuries old feature both aesthetically and in playing terms. Water hazards and bunkers are strategically placed around the course to test your strategy and accuracy.
The greens of Penn A4 are superb, and fairways of Bermuda Sahara provide good lies for most well-placed shots.
A driving range, putting green and putting course are available for pre-round practice.
Benamor golf will always inspire a return visit, as a good score is visibly acheivable but may be elusive!
