The greens need a bit of improvement, it's a tough course with plenty to keep a amateur golfer thinking about. A good mix of long and short holes. The range breaks up part of the course but you don't notice it until 6th green and the last hole which on this occasion had the green almost unnervingly close to the slice potential of the driving range.

I've been playing golf for over 40 years at courses that rate as simple 'members' courses to those that put themselves in the category of 'championship'. Woodbury likes to think itself as one of the latter but if you are thinking of playing there in the winter - forget it!
My recent experience was to play a game on fairways that were so totally saturated and extremely hazardous that they never came close to anything else I have ever experienced in my life. No club I have ever known would have their course open in such conditions but as one informed source subsequently told me, they know if the shut it, it would never reopen for fear od creating a precedence!
Additionally, You should not expect to be entitled to (attempt) to play a course anything like it's intended legth. Temporary tees are perfectly legitimate and reasonable to expect in winter conditions, but when they are placed so far forward as to take out about 20% of the course, it makes the game there even more of a joke. The second (par 5) is just about halved in length!
The clay base of Woodbury causes attrocious drainage that Nigel Mansell, as previous owner, was never able to resolve in spite of spending a fortune. The one and only good point was that the greens stood out as good and well drained (although - and again reasonable to expect for the time of year - they had been recently hollow tyned).
It's an extremely challenging test of golf in summer but really, don't waste your money on it in the winter when conditions are wet.

Extremely tough course especially in bad weather which we played it in - the rough becomes un-playable in the wet. Suggest you wait for good weather before venturing out on this very difficult course

Oaks course is absolutely superb in the summer and a bit wet and wild in the winter. The acorns is a really nice little 9 hole with some interesting holes. Its nice to play the 9 in the morning and the 18 in the afternoon.

The course and facilities are superb, so good we have become members ! You can not fault the challenge the oaks course presents especially on the gold tees at 7300 yeards, the 9 hole acorns also looks to provide a consistent challenge and the club is a far happier one with the new ownership in place.

Work and live in Exmouth and Mmy Society has corporate membership. Wild in the winter and very wet but in the dry it is a fabulous course with fast greens and plenty of water hazards
