The course is definitely a lot better than last year and the greens are in great condition. Some great work has been undertaken to get the course back to how it should be.

Just travelled to play The Woll, a little wary about the quality of greens based on reviews but was pleasantly surprised. They've clearly been working hard on these and they were of a decent and consistent quality.
The course is well designed, plenty of variety and very picturesque. Quite forgiving and fairly short; rolled off a couple of greens expecting to find myself in a bunker only to find grass.
Not sure if I'd class it as a hidden gem but definitely an very enjoyable course

We have been travelling to the Woll for the best part of 15 years now and always experience a great reception. Looking forward to our return in August this year as Nicholas and the team have been developing some of the holes.

there was good and bad parts course looks very nice when all finished greens were very slow and hairy and also quite bumpy there is six winter greens still on due to new greens still not quite ready according to the staff course was quite narrow and water can easily catch you out wind was going all over the place did not stay the same hole way through the game

Visited Woll Golf Course for a game with friends last week! Great welcome and blessed with good weather as well.
It is early in the year but the course was getting into shape for the season and we really enjoyed ourselves. What really surprised us was the reconstruction work which had taken place to 6 holes which had had problem greens last year. New bunkers and brand new USPGA spec greens looked amazing and apparently will be opened in May 2014.
All of us agreed that it was a great place to come to and we are going to return in a few weeks to try our skills on the newly reconstructed holes!

Having just stayed here on a weekend break what great value for money and free golf. Having read the reviews i must say what fantastic work has been done over the Autumn on the course they have spend a lot of money redeveloping the 6 problem greens. The Green keepers are all working extremely hard getting the course ready for this new season. The Clubhouse has great food and staff . I would say to everyone you MUST go and play this course give it a 2nd visit.

What a disappointment, having been on their website and having read their claims that the course is one of the best in the borders and a must play i was expecting something impressive. However i was left with a completely underwhelmed feeling. I played the course 2 months ago when the weather had been beautiful for almost the entire summer and the course was in an awful state. The greens were terrible and uneven and were depressing to play on as you knew that no matter how well you played to the green you couldn't score well once you'd reached them. Speaking to people in the clubhouse afterwards they say that it has been an ongoing problem for many years and is unlikely to be fixed with the economic climate as it is, making their claim as a premier course laughable.
However i end on a positive, the food was really good, the fish was cooked well and the chips were nice and crispy. Would definitely recommend for food but stay well away from the golf!

Was really looking forward to visiting. Upon arrival, staff greeted us and couldn't have done more for all 18 of us. Course was in decent condition, given the hot summer, but unfortunately the greens were a disaster, which was a great shame. Afterwards, there was a wedding reception on, and the staff were superb in making sure we got everything we needed. Even with it being busy, one of our guys was met coming off the course by the manager so he could get his meal before he left early, which had been prearranged and, given how busy they were, was very impressive. We were given table service, including drinks. It's such a shame the greens were so bad, and hopefully the club can do something about it. Will definitely return due to the fantastic setting and unparalleled service from all the staff, but only once the greens have improved. Even if they had been half decent, I'd have rated this club as excellent in all categories.

Having read good things about this course we decided to visit. Upon arrival we were told that we couldn't play ahead of our tee off time even though there was no one else on the course, by unhelpful member of staff. The course was in very poor condition completely soaked and the rough was ridiculously long. The tee boxes were in very good condition though. The course looked as if it might be nice but the condition was disappointing and the views were boring. Enjoyed a delicious meal in their nice clubhouse afterwards, but it wasn't enough to make me want to visit again.
