Considering this is ranked as the "4th Best course in Essex" I was far from impressed. There were far too many temporary tees and most of the tees were very uneven. There was 3 fairways where there was surface water and far too many bald patches and heavy mud considering only a short downpour the day before. Also the signage for the next tees were very unclear and there was no indication of playing from temporary tees. Surely to be rated that high it should be in good condition all seasons there are "lesser" courses around that play better all year round..

For a course that's voted top 4 in Essex the course wasn't in great shape. Wasn't able to get breakfast at 9:30 as bar was shut. Greens had not been whipped which was disappointing and the course was so so wet. Drainage is very poor albeit we've had a bit of rain but courses I've played in the top ten ( Chelmsford, toothill, canonsbrook etc) are a lot firmer under foot. I will go back but not until the weather improves.

A bit disappointed with this course to be honest. Played here on a society day and that was the general consensus as well. Course is very cramped in places, with a number of tee shots being placed over previous greens. Conditioning wasn't great. Some of the tee boxes were in a terrible state, with grass the length of rough. Fairways were bare in places with numerous divots. Greens were slow, although generally true. Some of the borrows were very subtle. Clubhouse is decent and food was good. Holes 4 and 6 were very good.

Played the day before club championship so was being prepare,Making true review unfair.Some fairways being watered as we went round (back 9) front 9 pretty brown, greens were very fast and pin positions difficult. Under normal conditions I think it's a golfers course

Poor drainage
The course was very muddy and I was very disappointed with the condition of the course and not recommend playing in the winter and also the restaurant closed at 16.00 hrs so unable to have any food after our gameReviewer Rating

Enjoyable round, course having a lot of work done on it and have seen it in better condition before but still enjoyed.

Good facilities, quite hilly, new buggies. Apparently can be very wet, but dry for us and greens rolling fast. Could do with some more maintenance, mainly filling up drainage works where ground has settled. Will visit again.
