Highlight of 2021
It's not cheap, but one of the cheaper courses on England?s ?Golf Coast?, having played in an open comp for just ?60 I strongly believe that represents value for money. Definitely the best course I've played in 2021 and in my top 5 overall. The presentation of the course is immaculate, from the tee boxes to the fairways and I was blown away by the quality of the grass walkways from green to tee, reminded me of Ballybunion Old, but dare I say better. Some great holes with fastastic bunkering and the green complexes were something else. I've you've not played for a few years it's worth going back as the club has invested a lot in the last year or so and by all accounts the changes have made a massive difference.Reviewer Rating

Mr
Stunning! I played here about 5 years ago and the course was an average links. The course now is up there with the likes of birkdale. The changes John and the course staff have made to the course is amazing! Immaculate from tee to green! Best greens I’ve ever played on, and it’s February!!! The views are stunning over the Mersey! A proper challenge. The course is so much better than any other links in the area! It’s a must to play. I genuinely cannot recommend this course highly enough!Reviewer Rating

The real star of the Wirral!
Everyone generally goes to the Wirral to play Royal Liverpool, home of the Open. Whilst that is a great course as well, Wallasey is the true star of this region. We played both courses in successive days and can say without any doubt that all four of us were blown away with the quality and challenge of Wallasey. What a course! The first is an unassuming start and really is no indicator of the true course hidden behind rolling grass covered dunes and undulations. And walking through the gap from the 3rd green to 4th tee, there's really nothing that prepares you for that, a simply wonderful moment that I've experienced on very few golf courses. Has to be seen with your own eyes to understand why I enthuse about it so much. There are some holes on this course that will test the very best low handicappers. It's not a course I would recommend for higher handicappers who don't have ball control. I found it was pushing my abilities as a 20 handicap golfer. This course demands accuracy and the greens punish weaker putters like myself. All in all, this course is up there with the very best you will play. We paid ?70 as the winter rate but we had a summers day in February, so were incredibly lucky. ?70 felt like incredible value to be playing this course. Make a special trip to play Wallasey, you absolutely won't be disappointed.

Some truly exhilarating tee shots.
We played Hoylake day 1 and Wallasey day 2 - what a great contrast for 2 outstanding but quite different links courses. All of us enjoyed Wallasey a bit more ...primarily due to the views. There are some amazing elevated tees especially at 4 and 17 which are absolute breath-taking (no joke)...like nothing I've witnessed ever. And some really good elevated greens on 1, 3, 10, 11.What I really loved was how many other links courses this course reminded me of. It is so varied...Like Formby Ladies (Wallasey's 2nd hole), Formby Mens (Wallasey's 5th), Pennard (Wallasey's 11th), Saunton West (Wallasey's 12th - we ALL took photos of this hole!!!), Formby Mens (13th), Royal St Davids (16th), Burnham & Berrow (on the amazing 18th).
> This course is excellent!
Only gripe is a few of the tees were brought way forward on the front nine . Especially on 3rd and sadly the 339 yard 6th was reduced to a mere 195 yarder (so felt a bit of cheat birdying it!)
Like Hoylake there were loads of the one foot length green mats around for you to play your fairways shots off in order to protect the fairways.
We payed £70 to play ....which is a tad steep especially for the aforementioned forward tees ....but on a Monday you could use a county card (£36) which is an absolute steal for a course of this quality.
For sure we'll be back to play here in the future!

Wallasey in early March
Course and greens especially in an amazing condition considering how much rain we have had this Winter. You can really see the changes to pathways and run off areas have bedded in and look fantastic. PS the flagsticks and tee markers are a very classy touch.Reviewer Rating

Fabulous
The first Stableford competition was played here on 16 May 1932; Dr Frank Stableford was a club member (hcap +1) and fed up with being unable to reach the greens in regulation on the par 4s in more than a light breeze. It's a tough course in an onshore breeze.Always immaculately presented, grass pathways from greens to tees, stunning views, Wallasey is a must play course. And the clubhouse hospitality is pretty good too!

Wallasey Golf Club amazing changes
It's been 2 years since I last played this layout, some amazing changes, new bunkers and walkways between holes are brilliant, nice touch with the extra signs and new tee markers and metal bottoms to the holes to make holing a putt even more aesthetic. I can see why it's entered the Top 100 this year.Reviewer Rating
